ALTERNATORS Constructicons!!! I know...pipe dream. Personally I wouldn't care if Hasbro just up-sized the original molds w/added details. Deep in my heart I know we'll never see them so I've taken to trying to design something myself but I have one MAJOR problem...and I need opinions. The original Scavenger and Bonecrusher both have molded caterpillar treads that seperate and/or twist to form their feet and legs (form arms and body...and I'll form the head)(Sorry minor Voltron flashback). My question is...If these two were made as ALTs would the legs be acceptable like this? Or in true alternators fashion should the treads function as real treads do? HELP!!!
I'm not sure if you could do treads in Alternators unless they weren't involved in the transformation at all... Most likely Hasbro would do what they usually do with tanks and put in some invisible wheels under plastic-molded treads. If you want to sacrifice leg articulation though, they could also make feet that swung out from the sides of the legs and went around the treads.
I was thinking about the latter or else just have them fold onto the bots' backs like ginormous backpacks.
I'd imagine anything with treads released in Alternators would have rubber treads. As for how they'd work that into the transformation, I think the answer is Energon Kickback. Treads as backpack. They might try something like Rampage from Beast Wars, of course. Hide the treads in a compartment, and simply put them into place as a step in the transformation.
Maybe something to have the treads slide into the chest cavity and/or have the arms extend out from inside the tread. But yeah, as alts they'd need to have real rubber treads.
