Did I not say earlier this week that Oklahoma is good for one puzzling loss a year? As for Texas, they have no business being ranked. You could sense their mediocrity from the opening kickoff against Rice on opening day. Auburn will be defeated before the season's over. Oregon I can't see going undefeated either. Boise and TCU know that if there is any year that the championship can be had, then this is it.
I meant funny as in it would be interesting if somehow the best conference arguably was not represented in the title game. I don't think the SEC should get a free pass to the NC game every year just because they have dominated the past 4 years. The SEC is another 3 team race and they could all end up beating each other up.
I agree with everything you said. No, I agree with anyone getting a free pass. My point is, however, that the SEC, even in a down year such as this, has enough equity built up due to recent history that it will influence pollsters to varying degrees.
alabama had me shaking in the first half, then somehow in the 2nd, they snapped to, and that was the way i wanted Bama to play. they play like that the rest of the year, the "annual" trip to Atlanta will be a fun, yet obvious game to watch. other than watching over-hyped (and bama was guilty of this as well) self absorbed teams stumble, i love watching the experts choke on their gospel, lol. when they proclaim who's gonna be #1 and it's barely October and by the end of October, their chpsen team is already in the dumpster...i feel groovy. and the more upsets we get as the weeks go by, the more words they eat. by Thanksgiving, they're stuffed on crow while i'm downing turkey sandwiches. this is why i love football...
Oregon just needs to keep ignoring the rankings and continue kicking the ass of everyone they play up to and including the BCS championship game. I hope they win out, still go in at number two and utterly obliterate whomever goes in as number one. out
I had a pretty negative outlook on Oregon heading into the season, and the first few weeks. They clearly have no weaknesses that I can see on Offense - seriously, who the hell is that consistent offensively week in and out - but I still have concern over their defense, seems each week is a shootout of some sort. Honestly, I think they would beat us in a BCS game unless our defense grew up rather quickly. At the end of the day, if they keep outscoring the other team, they will keep winning. Will be interesting.
Remaining hard games by team imo. Auburn- @ Alabama, SEC Championship game Oregon- @ USC, @ Oregon State Boise State- @ Nevada TCU- @ Utah Michigan State- @ Iowa, @ Penn State Missouri- @ Nebraska, Big 12 Championship game Alabama- @ LSU, Auburn, SEC Championship game Utah- @ Air Force, TCU, @ San Diego State Oklahoma- @ Baylor, @ OSU, Big 12 Championship game Wisconsin- @ Michigan Ohio State- @ Iowa LSU- Alabama, @ Arkansas, SEC Champ Kind of obvious who has easiest road there. To me the SEC teams have the toughest stretch so that should be taken into consideration when voting. If any of them go undefeated from now on that is a no brainer and should be in the NC. I'm not that familiar with the Big 10 rules but how do they handle a tie? If Michigan State loses to Iowa or Penn State and Ohio St wins out and Wisconsin loses aren't they tied with no head to head? I can't remember if that has happened recently.
Oregon's offensive scheme is pretty fun to watch. I recall reading that they average around 15 seconds between snaps, which is ridiculously fast.
Basically, if OSU and MSU end up as one loss teams, with MSU's loss coming against a fellow Big 10 team, the highest rank team gets the Rose Bowl berth, bu they'll share the title of conference champion.
RIP Nick Bell, Mississippi State DE. From my hometown and high school, started first two games this year before being diagnosed with and succumbing to cancer. Mississippi State defensive end Nick Bell dies from cancer - ESPN
Payment sought in Newton recruitment - Yahoo! News man, this stirs all kinds of Koo-Aid... now things are getting "interesting." is this what you call a "pay or play" situation?
Could be sour grapes from Miss State but I say where there is smoke there is fire. I bet this is another Reggie Bush type incident.
No facts have been solidified yet, but it doesn't look good. I hope it isn't true, because as much as I hate Auburn, Cam has proven to be a hell of a football player. If it is true, it isn't good for Auburn at all - they knew about these allegations back in July, so the fact they have played him this season points to them feeling there is nothing behind it. If it turns out to be misconduct, well...
But doesn't that still leave Auburn in control if they lose to 'Bama? I thought Auburn would have to lose 2 SEC games left for LSU, in this case, their last 2, for LSU to be in the lead
