    UPDATE:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Original post continues here:

EA is offering what amounts to a demo of NBA Jam with the purchase of NBA Elite 11 for the 360 and PS3. But EA is about to cause a riot with their announcement. Apprently, the only way to play these "demos" is to buy NBA Elite 11.

NBA Elite 11 for PS3: New Controls and NBA Jam Confirmed – PlayStation Blog

NBA Jam Confirmed For 360, PS3 (But There's A Nasty Catch)

You need to buy NBA Jam on the Wii to play the full actual game.

I read the story but I'm confused. So they are introducing a new control scheme to the NBA games, but making it only available if you buy the Elite game? Is the riot going to start because of the new control scheme?

Your red letters hurt, Joe :lol

You could go the shady route and aquire a code by not so legal methods.

I'll wait until NBA Elite is super cheap and dump it after using the code (unless you need NBA Elite) or I hope they're just saying this with future plans on an actual release. I could always get it on Wii I guess.

    Total crap by EA.

I'm glad I don't really care about this game.

First time I've ever seen Blog Poster on the PS blog get defensive. They are calling him out. I have to hand it to the guy. At least he's responding. Most folks just ignore the haters. I mean, he's responding with typical PR stuff, but at least he didn't fly out as soon as the mob started up.

This is also the first time the mob has been this bad. Most of the time the responders are pretty supporting of the people posting, even if they are not 100% interested in the game they are posting about.

No no, totally. I agree. It's interesting to see this happening, because Kotaku is reporting the story and EA has no connection to that story (as in they don't have to read it). But in this instance, this is someone from EA getting an earful (eyeful).

I think its just that EA realises they can't sell the game for full price on XBLA/PSN or release it on disc for those systems.

Once the Wii game has dropped in price I think we might see it on those services.

I don't think that's the case at all. I think they are trying to out duel 2K Sports, who scored Jordan. So they tell people they can only get NBA Jam by paying for Elite.

I don't understand the complaints. They're not charging anymore for the game, and if you buy Elite you get NBA Jam for free. Wasn't it always to remain a Wii Exclusive?

I think we just thought it was coming to PSN and XBLA, and lots of people have been looking forward to it for a while.

Correction, you get a watered down version of NBA Jam free. The markets for NBA Jam and realistic NBA games are two very different markets. There are millions of gamers who have no interest in NBA Elite that would have snatched up NBA Jam on day 1, including me.

There going through a lot of trouble to port this game to PS3 and 360, making all the graphics in HD and then deciding to strip out features making it a glorified demo and then requiring you to pick up a $60 game to play said demo. Completely bass ackwards.

What a sham. If it was the full game, I might consider buying it. I'm sticking with NBA2K11. It's been the best, and I doubt the first year of NBA Elite is going to been a worthy competitor. Sad part is, I would have paid 60 for NBA Jam, and I think alot of people would have paid 30 or 20 for it. If they had just cut their losses and included the full game in NBA ELite, they could have bolstered both franchises and made them viable for years to come. Now they have to rely on NBA Elite being GREAT and it's going to be a rough battle doing so.

I guess. Still seems like you're getting NBA Jam for free, sans some features but with a graphical update.

I really think you're missing the point entirely. The problem isn't that you're getting NBA Jam with NBA Elite. It's that you can ONLY get NBA Jam with NBA Elite. NBA Jam fans do not want to be forced to get NBA Elite to simply play NBA Jam. Elite, for all intents and purposes, looks to be awful.

It's not free if you don't want elite. You in essence have a $60 NBA Jam demo (as it isn't even the full version).
