The MFT version is pinned to his back. The IF version is not.

There is no "c-clip" to remove it? What a strange and stupid change...

I have the oversized version from NB. The ship nose is on a clip that allows it to slide off of the bar that it is attached to the back with. The wings on the arms are just on 5mm pegs, so I took the one off his left arm and pegged the nose on in its place. I then pegged the wing onto his back leg for storage, where it isn't immediately visible.

Here's what the clip looks like. It can be easy to miss because it doesn't go off and on like one would expect:

And here's how it looks attached to his back:
    201807201959101053~01-picsay.jpg

It's very difficult to get off without breaking the clip, so be careful trying to do it.

Awesome. Thanks! I am glad I asked. :)

No kidding. Did you use a tool of some kind to help?

EDIT: I got it off. No damage, but not cool.

If you actually follow the directions it pops right off with no issues. If you just try to yank it off like a moron you break it easily.

I've got this guy on the shelf now and, so far, he might be my favorite Legends. The only thing I feel like he's missing (other than a waist swivel!) is a way to store his swords/gun when he's not using them in bot mode.

I'm no modeler, but it would be awesome if someone could devise a way of attaching scabbards and/or a holster to his back when the nosecone is moved to his forearm.

Is there a corresponding comic book appearance of any of this? I can take a stab at it, but would prefer to base it on existing designs if there are any.

I was just digging around for something like that, but haven't come across anything yet. Looking at the swords themselves, it seems like it would be a lot easier if they had ports on them, that way they could just peg onto something, rather than needing to be sheathed. I'll keep looking around and see if I can come up with anything that might correspond.

No luck on tracking down an example, but I did notice this on the Mastermind Carnifex:
    maxresdefault-edit.jpg

Which at least gives a precedent for the sword hilts to stick up above his shoulders. Looking at the back of NB, there seems to be two viable options for pegging in some sort of dual scabbard type piece. I may just try to scrape something together, at least as a temporary solution, using one or both of these:

On the downside, I didn't notice those scuff marks until I started looking closely at his back. :(

So, it's not perfect and it's definitely not professional or permanent, but it works for now..

It's a slapdash mod I made with a paper clip. Since I moved the nosecone to his arm, it opened up the hinge on his back. I turned a paperclip into a dual-scabbard with a small "hook" at the top that just slips in there.

@Charlock let me be the first to say it: THAT KICKS @$$. Great idea, I was looking at a way to somehow use the vestigial 3rd base mode ramp for this! Maybe I'll use it to make a way to combine the Tank and Jet...

Great stuff man, thanks for the inspirado!
