Speaking of Generations Rattrap, though... I do admit a Voyager Dinobot would look better when displayed with him.

    Good idea.

How is "making it bigger because that's what the character is supposed to be" going crazy? You're using the worst justification ever.

So do you also demand Megatron be world's smallest next to Optimus, and Starscream be a titan class figure? It seems really random for you to be a stickler for alt mode scale here.

You make some good points. I mean, it is a prototype, so any incognurities may be ironed out later.

However, logically, it's incredibly unlikely it's official given that Hasbro has divulged no plans for anything BW next year.

Yeah, the way the head turns. I see it, too.

Hope it doesn't turn out to be a rejected design for the 30th anniversary line.

The proportions are really off. Does not look good.

Looks very much like a retooled Dinobot... much in line with the sort of retooling done for the Takara Legends line. In that, they retooled Animated Blackarachnia into a Beast Wars Blackarachnia. Methinks they retooled it for this subline... fixing the awkward hands, making a proper propeller tail, and resculpting a few bits here and there.

I'd love to see this stateside, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is for Legends.

...A velociraptor was about the size of a lap dog or a very large cat... by that logic all the beast wars characters would scale horribly^^. (Since we don't have realistically sized insect or a rat) It does seem to be less a case of 'disguise' and more 'The appearance of this animal fits my personality/what I want to look like' and the animal alt is then sized to match their robot mode size^^

He could arguably be a Utahraptor or Achillobator, both were about the size Dinobot seems to be, and Achillobator was a eurasian raptor which is where the Beast Wars characters seemed to have been initially (that or north africa, although the image from space indicates south eurasia) ^^

For me, it is about robot mode scaling... Dinobot was one of the tallest characters (Only Megatron is taller in the first season)... Hence, Voyager^^

I'm hoping it's Generations. Masterpiece and Unlicensed are too expensive.

Isn't there a problem with 3P companies and making BW figures? I remember a Big Convoy (From either PE or FP) that got cancelled.

The proportions are way off to be a Masterpiece as some are thinking it may be, but it does look like a decent Generations version, if that's what's in store after Combiner Wars (and Titan Wars actually lets some exceptions in).

My real hope, though, is that it's a third party effort. Third parties have never attempted a true organic styled figure, whether it be because there aren't any sculptors out there for those details or they'be been deemed too risky, but I really think Beast Wars would sell. Not necessarily the more esoteric guys, but the staples like the season 1 crew would stand a good chance, I'd think.

Ah, that makes sense! Aren't most of the Takara prototypes we see in the magazines still that grey look stuff?

This is what I though when I saw it, a retool of universe dinobot, considering the recent popularity of retooling figures we may see a retool/repaint of quite a few beast wars figures coming out from takara.

Still has the same problems that plagued Universe Dinobot.

I can't really be happy, because if it's not a mass release figure, how can I enjoy it?

Yeah it's either a garage kit, which I'd have no chance of getting, or it's a one off fan custom.

You mean like Rattrap, Waspinator, Airazor, Blackarachnia, Tarantulas, Scorponok, Inferno?

The arms and legs look so much better than what we got from the Universe figure, but the chest looks so much worse. The chest was one of the few things the Universe figure basically got right.

Except that 1. it's too big, and 2. it doesn't share a single part with Universe Dinobot. It's quite clearly all new.

The problem with 3P companies and making BW figures is that Beast Wars isn't G1.
