Went to the doctor, I’m down to 258. thank you, Atkins! nah, I’m was bullshitin’. And you know this, man! Atkins didn’t do anything. Willpower. Pure willpower.
Looking at this thread is some great inspiration. I'm not incredibly overweight, but I'm overweight enough that it's causing my other health issues to worsen, so I've been trying to eat less, drink more water, and exercise more. So far in about a month, I've only managed to maintain my weight, but at least I haven't gained any more
Weighed in the other day and I'm 9 pounds away from my original goal. This already puts me at less than I have been in decades. Once I hit my goal, which shouldn't be long from now, I'll set a new goal. Downside is that I will be needing a lot of new clothes. Everything I have now is baggy and I only own one belt.
Perhaps you're replacing fat with lean muscle. That's what I've read. I'm not obese either. I want to drop a stone or two for the decades to come. And the fact I was always skinny as a kid.
Giving portion control, prepared ready meals a go. A guy at work has been doing it for nearly 6 months with positive results.
So... I was reading up on subject matter & intermittent fasting (code for skipping meals) came up. No s**t you lose weight by skip meals & stay regimented. And how the lady dietician author loved having intermittent fasting as part of her diet. No reasonable, sane person loves skipping meals. No one.
I actually do, lol... But without getting into more of the "science" of IF, I'll list the layman data of why I like it. 1: Makes you very regular 2: Negates the lethargy dump after every meal 3: Ultimately shrinks the size of your stomach...which leads to 4: Reduces the "hunger" feel when grehlin gets released
I did 5:2, two days a week not eating for awhile. I lost 20 pounds in a couple months just doing that alone. It works. Being hungry sucks, but after one day of not eating it's actually difficult to eat the following day, it killed my appetite completely. You feel energized and not hungry at all waking up the next day. I would allow myself a light salad of 200 cals or less for lunch on those days, since technically that's not enough to break the fast (or so I read). Definitely takes willpower, but if you can handle it, it's the most effective, cheapest diet I ever found. Just try it for one day, you'll be amazed how you feel the following day. People think they are going to die if they don't eat for 24 hours - unless you have some medical condition, that's just not going to happen. It's actually good for your gastric tract to take a day off now and then. Fasting is common in other parts of the world, and we should really adopt it as a normal thing.
I wouldn’t recommend it. I literally starved myself to lose weight. After I recovered, I could no longer eat even mid sized meals. Even after 18 years.
So not being able to stuff yourself full is a BAD thing? Your stomach shrank, you found the secret cheat code for weight loss. People get surgery to do just that. Not seeing the downside, sorry.
Great observation Also, people often lose track of the proper portions of meals in this world of "super size". Your fist (or palm) is a good gauge of proper single serving, but as we all know that's like a snack these days.
