@DocSeth81 so first thought was "raise the roof", very noyce...then I wanted to find a meme on the nets for this...but I wanted to find one that is most appropriate, for ALL of us...not just about meeting a goal, but meeting and going beyond...it's all about time, some of us have more than others (I currently have less gym time than I desire).
I'm down to 250lbs. I began at close to 290lbs. when I started my program. I'm type 2 diabetic and my A1C was at a 9 when I started and as of today it is 5.8!
Great to hear gents. Such an inspiration. Well done. I'm gonna be more realistic this year & aim to drop 5kg (~11 lbs). Okay, perhaps 15 lbs after indulging in Lunar New Year feasts.
Back in November, I had a scare and changed my eating habits and I drink water now and control what I eat like I only eat a original chicken sandwich from BK or a pizza from Pizza Hut or a sub from subway. The other days I’m barely eat bread, mostly protein food plenty of water, little milk and from 2 months ago I weighed myself and I got from 290 to 267. 50 more pounds and I’m happy.
try making your own food. Even if you make a chicken sandwich with frozen chicken tenders or a sandwich with deli meat. Fast food is soooo bad for you a lot of salt and empty calories. If you want some easy recipes send me a message
Lots of inspiring stories here. I started on a diet and some simple medication in November, mainly for health reasons. Last night I had a really vivid dream about going to a huge buffet and eating everything I'm trying to avoid now. It was awfully specific, like how they had coated all the good sources of protein with bread crumbs, and someone just handed me the world's largest ice cream cone, with a quart of whipped cream on top... So, this happen to anyone else? I'm still sort of shocked
Yes, only it's not a dream. It's called Lunar New Year buffet banquet. I have lousy discipline when it comes to sugary foods/treats.
It starts tomorrow. Spent a decent chunk of today cleaning out all the sugary snacks from kitchen cupboard (even had some stashed in the home gym room, home office, bedroom) & offloading to family . Binned the rest.
Lol yeah. One time I cut out soda for 4 months & I had a dream that a vending machine started spitting out free sodas everywhere!! Even in the dream, I was like “NOOOOOOO!”
Massive sugar cravings these few days. Morning runs feeling lethargic. Difficult concentrating. Like a druggie experiencing sweaty withdrawal symptoms. You guys make weight loss look easy. Twenty lbs here. Thirty lbs there.
Just fight through it. It'll get better. I used to basically drink sugar all day long. Sugar in my coffee at breakfast, sweet tea at lunch and dinner, etc. I weaned myself off of sugary drinks and now I don't miss it at all. In fact, when something is too sweet it tastes bad to me. I'll still have an occasional soda once in a while, like once or twice a month. And I limit myself to just the smallest size possible. I noticed a regular 12oz can of soda is over 70% of your daily sugar intake all by itself. That helps remind me how bad it is. The other thing I try to avoid is salt which raises my blood pressure. In an effort to avoid salt and sugar it limits my diet considerably and I find myself avoiding lots of bad food. I started making my own tortillas and bread using good flour made from ancient wheat that isn't genetically modified. It's a lot better for you and is not supposed to raise your glucose levels as much as the bread we normally get at the store. I still try to limit my carbs in general, but when I do eat/crave carbs I try to eat something better. But, also, it's OK to get something bad once in a while. Just make it the rare exception and not a habit. Make it a reward for working hard to stay on your diet. Then it gives you something to look forward to and motivates you to stick to your diet. At some point your eating habits will turn into your lifestyle and ongoing rather than a diet that you "get through". It's that mental adjustment that's important. You need your eating habits to stay that way otherwise you'll just gain it all back once you reach your target weight.
It better come quick. Today, saw a little old lady sitting down & about to munch on her choc eclair bun. Oh the thought crossed my mind to snatch it off her hands & do a runner. Find a back alley somewhere & indulge on that scrumptious choc eclair bun.
I took a treat yesterday with a jelly donut. It was delicious. Today I’m back on track. cooked a favorite meal since I was a child with Eggs with beans cooked together.
Trying to get back on track. I'm having to take it easy due to my eye surgery. I can start working out lightly again, just walking around the track at the gym I go to. Another follow up this Wednesday with my eye doctor so hopefully he tells me I can turn it up a notch or 2.
I've been doing a bit of reading. It appears I'm going through the 'keto flu' symptoms phase. Need to stay hydrated & electrolytes. Having you guys along for the ride keeps me motivated, focused & on track.
Back to working out full time again now that my eye doctor gave me the all clear. Down to 244lbs and my goal is to get to 200lbs by summer.
