At some point, they will all be dead.

There's no more Allspark to bring life to a dying Cybertron.
there's no more sun destroyers to bring energy to a dying Cybertron.

The Decepticons leave dying Cybertron and invade Earth to create a new Cybertron.

The only way Prime can protect Earth is to use the 3rd Film's as yet seen McGuffin and end the life of EVERY transformer.

Bay walks from franchise to direct other films, and the franchise will be ready for a reboot.

    Takers?

So Prime murders all the rest of the Transformers? Yeah, I don't see that happening. Its one thing to sacrifice yourself, but to make the active choice to commit genocide is a bit much.

I imagine it would be the opposite. A new life source is discovered, and the good guys have to keep it from the bad guys. If it's off-planet, the good guys find a new home and start a new civilization.

No way they'll kill off ALL the robots. Decepticons, maybe. Autobots, hell no.

I'd imagine whoever survives will leave Earth though, maybe a big Autobot ship comes down from the furthest reaches of space, having found somewhere uninhabited for them to live and the remaining Autobots leave. Optimus gives some badass speech, Bumblebee says goodbye to Sam etc.

    I agree.

But I do like the idea of the remaining Decepticons evacuating Cybertron to invade earth to build a new home.

Unicron swallows Sam and Sam spits on the brain of Unicron and they both blow up and the earth is saved.

As important as I think MacGuffins are to a good adventure movie, you can only use them so many times before it becomes implausible. Which is to say, Cybertron is millions of lightyears away, and when it exploded, it's contents exploded in a spherical shape for trillions and trillions of miles, and yet for some reason all the really rare, powerful stuff somehow ended up on Earth.

Why aren't the Decepticons out searching for power on other planets? I think the reason is simple. It's personal. Megatron has twice been defeated on Earth, and he's pissed. He's no longer interested in killing Sam and Prime because they possess some all-powerful object which will give him life again. He's interested in killing them because they've pissed him off and it's time to die.

As for how what I think would be a proper ending to the trilogy. Prime and the Autobots are outcasts in society, and Prime is forced by a Galloway-type to honor his request and leave Earth. Prime says he will honor the request, though secretly decides to stay behind and protect earth. All the surviving Autobots reformat into unregistered and unrecognizable alt modes (Prime as a flat-nose, Bumblebee as a Beetle, etc) and they return to the "robots in disguise" mantra. And Wham! New trilogy, new director, new kid, etc.

It would be cool, if all life of transformers were attached to ''The Core'' of Cybertron. Destroy the core, and every transformers is dead.

EDIT : Sh*t, I just got a new idea for my stop motion :D

these are probably the closest to the ending Bay & the writers have in mind/had in mind, but they'll still have to leave it open enough for TF4-6 cause if TF3 breaks the $1billion mark you know they'll want Bay back for sure

OR have it set up where small groups, say like 3 or 4 Autobots(depending on who survives the final battle & how many Autobots in general in total are on Earth in TF3), are stationed in certain key Autobot/N.E.S.T. HQs around the world as well as a small base on the Moon or Mars(depending on what is revealed in TF3)

I like this ending. If they had them reformat into something close to the G1 alt modes (whoever survives).

In the final scene Prime Transforms into the flat nose and says we are here, watchful protectors in hiding - and with Peter Cullen in the flat nose cab - he says "Robots in Disguise." That'd be fucking EPIC. It'll never happen, but the last thing we see should be the flat nose Prime, Peter Cullen, and hearing Robots in Disguise.

I'd be willing to bet that the surviving Autobots remain on Earth in the end. It would be a logical way to tie up the 'humanity turns against the Autobots' thread if they're finally accepted after fending off a full scale Decepticon invasion.

    I got two theories-

1)Everyone dies then Unicron makes a debute before the credits roll. Leaving earth more defenseless than ever.

2)The hate plague,if it's in the movie screws over all of the Autobots, and the Decepticons. The final battle is a draw, and no one on earth can stop the hate plague.

I see the Deceptions being wiped out and the people of Earth say the Autobots can stay for saving them. It ends with a Cullen monologue saying that they have a new home... one they are welcome to and any Autobots are free to come out of hiding.

Here is my two cents on it:
    Everyone dies.
