I took the liberty of fixing the plot, and story for Age of Extinction, and believe me, it took a lot of fixing. I left out the elements I felt were silly, unnecessary, unrealistic, or made the story feel bloated, and I tried to make the whole thing feel smoother, more cinematic, and resolve some stuff that the movie skipped over, and I also added a couple things that the movie fell short of expectations on. In fact, my main goal was to make AoE feel more cinematic, and less like...well the un-cinematic mess that it was. Enjoy!

Age of Extinction: The Correct Way

The story takes place several years after DOTM's battle in Chicago. The Autobots have become heroes, and legends in the eyes of most people, but as always, there are irrational people who hate them. A Chinese terrorist organization, called KSI, led by Harold Attinger has been hunting them down for revenge (foolishly believing that ALL Transformers were responsible for the destruction, and the planet doesn't need them). They have become extremely powerful, and as a result, the Autobots have been forced to sever all ties with humans, and go into hiding.

Over the years, KSI has captured, or killed most of the remaining Decepticons and Autobots, including Ratchet, studying their technology, and slowly adapting it for their own purposes. Their first somewhat successful Transformer creations were the "Dinobots", (who do not have horns, or resemble knights). They were created to be extremely powerful, but because of inferior technology, they have only rudimentary artificial intelligence, and were very difficult to control, therefore, they were put into storage, and rarely used.

Another KSI creation, is Nemesis Prime, a robot designed to resemble, and counter Optimus Prime. The robots are designed by Joshua Joyce, a man who is somewhat conceited, but legitimately believes all Transformers are evil, he's being lied to by Attinger. His latest, and biggest feat is the Stinger prototype, a Bumblebee clone, constructed from what he calls "Transformium", an ultra-rare metal. (Stinger is the ONLY robot who can transform molecularly.)

When KSI fist started hunting Autobots, Optimus Prime was wounded in Mexico City. He barely made it to Texas, where he intentionally went into stasis lock to avoid Energon detection, and slowly let his systems heal. He warns his Autobots about the threat, but refuses to abandon Earth.

An amateur inventor named Cade Yeager bought Optimus (posing as a rusty Marmon cab-over) unintentionally, planning to cut him up and sell him for parts, as an investment for his daughter, Tessa's college fund. (Cade is extremely protective over his daughter, and doesn't want her to date until she is older. Tessa tries to convince him that most boys are honorable, but Cade isn't convinced. ) Cade takes the truck into his barn, and begins to strip it down, but can't get anywhere, because frustratingly (and humorously for us), Transformer metal is strong, and any injury he causes Optimus, instantly heals before his eyes (think the Santa Clause!) Finally, he decides to jumpstart the truck, which lets off a "Calling All Autobots" transmission, and an Energon surge.

KSI detects the surge, and rushes to the Yeager farm, and threatens the family, demanding they hand over Optimus Prime, but Cade always thought "Transformers" were just myth. Tessa explains that they're indeed real, and Cade's like "How do you know"? Tessa is embarrassed, and doesn't give her dad a straight answer. Harold thinks their just stalling, and prepares to kill them, but a Chevy Sonic, and it's driver show up, and start combating the troopers. In the confusion, Cade madly dashes to the barn, and uses every ounce of energy in his inventions to power Prime. It works, and Optimus bursts out of the barn, telling Cade and his daughter to retreat in the Sonic, as he holds off the troopers (without killing them of course)

On the retreat, we learn that the driver of the car is Shane Dyson (who is only 17, or 18), and he's also Tessa's boyfriend, much to the humorous displeasure of Cade! Cade doesn't like him.

Optimus Prime escapes KSI, catches up with the humans, and after reformatting himself, regroups in the middle of nowhere with the other surviving Autobots (all of which look like cool robots, they don't have beards, or cigars), which includes Bumblebee, Hound (grizzly army sergeant type who doesn't particularly like humans), Drift (we see in a flashback he's a former Decepicon, who isn't really trusted), Crosshairs (nicknamed "Sunstreaker", a close friend of Sideswipe), and Rollbar, who was disguised as the Chevy Sonic the whole time, that's why Shane showed up at the farm when he did. (That's also how Tessa knew what a Transformer was, her boyfriend's car turned into one!) Optimus is saddened by the fact that some Autobots are missing, but Bumblebee tells Optimus that Ratchet's medic homing beacon is still functioning, and they may be able to track it, and stage a rescue, if he survived.

The Autobots travel to Kong Kong, tracking Ratchet's signal. They send in Bumblebee, Cade, and Shane to scout. Cade still expresses dislike for Shane, but Shane tries to convince him that he's a good guy, and has Tessa's safety at heart. Cade still isn't convinced, and wants them to break up. Once inside, Bumblebee comes face to face with a deactivated Stinger, while Cade discoverers that Sidewipe is still alive. Optimus and the other Autobots storm the building to rescue him, but in the process, sadly discover Ratchet has been killed. The discovery stops the Autobots cold, and while they mourn the death of their friend, Joshua and Su Yeuming appear, and explain that Harold Attinger had lied, and that they didn't know Ratchet was a good guy, and that they didn't know Transformers had souls. The Autobots start to recover Ratchet's remains, but are forced to retreat when Attinger brings out the Drones, including Nemisis Prime, and Stinger.

The Autobots are pursued, which results in a battle, during which Optimus takes down Nemesis, although Stinger damages Bumblebee beyond repair, but because Stinger is a mindless Drone, Bumblebee is able to upload his consciousness before he dies, therefore becoming Stinger (and of course, reformatting into a passing yellow Camaro.) Nemesis Prime's body is recovered, and returned to the factory for repairs.

Back at the factory, Harold Attinger foolishly decides to upload a portion of the deceased Megatron's memory to Nemesis Prime, in hopes of boosting it's fighting skills. However Nemesis/Megatron activates, and uses the factory around him to rebuild himself into a more Megatron-like appearance, calling himself "Galvatron" (because his memory is only partially there, and he's half insane). He summons, and reprograms the other Drones to serve him, then leads a rampage through Hong Kong to find Optimus Prime, and the Autobots. Attinger escapes.

The Autobots (who have regrouped just outside of Hong Kong) are joined by Joshua and Su, who express their apologies, and warn them of Gakvatron's breakout, but tell them that they are vastly outnumbered, and that all hope is lost. One of the Autobots comments that the Decepticons are "monsters", and Joshua says that gives him an idea.

Joshua leads the Autobots and their human friends to a top secret KSI warehouse in the city, which they quietly infiltrate. Once inside, it is revealed that this is where the old Dinobots are being stored, and Joshua begins reprograming them to serve the Autobots...

Meanwhile the Decepticons are tearing apart the city, and just as Galvatron comments that "no one can stop them now"...the Autobots come charging in, riding the Dinobots, "Battle Cry" playing, and engage Galvatron, and his newfound Decepticon army. Drift kicks plenty of Decepticon rear, proving his loyalty, and Sideswipe and Crosshairs are strangely finding relief in the battle together, reminiscing about old times. Things take a darker turn when the battle sadly takes the life of Hound, who goes down honorablly defending the humans he has come to accept.

Bumblebee battles a Trax unit. The Trax fires a blast at Bumblebee, but it misses, and the blast heads right at Tessa. Shane heroically pushes Tessa out of the way to save her, but is caught in the explosion himself. Cade witnesses this.

When it becomes apparent that the Autobots are winning, Attinger shows up on a rooftop, and reveals that he intends to use his wild card, which is a suicide bomb, that will destroy himself, the Transformers, AND the entire city of Hong Kong in the process. Optimus realizes that the stakes are high, Attinger is a madman and the only way to stop him from detonating the bomb is to shoot him from a distance. Optimus hesitates for a moment, but ends up shooting him, to save the city. He's upset that he was forced to take a weaker life.

The battle has been won (Galvatron escaped though), and the Autobots and humans regroup. Cade and Tessa desperately try to revive Shane. He is still alive, and as he recovers, Cade apologizes for misjudging him, and gives Tessa permission to date him. Likewise, the other Autobots apologize to Drift for doubting his loyalty. The Autobots mourn Hound's death. The Chinese government comes in, and begins arresting what's left of KSI, although Joshua and Su are pardoned for their heroic actions, and given government jobs. Joshua takes the Dinobots in for repairs, and Optimus makes an ending speech while Bumblebee, Drift, Crosshairs, Sideswipe, and Rollbar listen.

Wow. This is something I wouldn't mind watching. One question I have is why the government of every country wouldn't try to stop KSI. Also, I think Crosshairs should just be renamed Sunstreaker rather than that being his nickname. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read. Good work!

So you took out Lockdown, the best villain we've had, meaning that the humans are now responsible for everything and we don't have a strong villain until the end of the film, which is actually just a copy of the TF07 version with Megatron waking up at the end now....except there's no supporting Decepticon cast....just some human drones. Yeah, I can see that going over REALLY well with the fandom....(except, you know, since you did it instead of Bay it's ok!)

And you completely took out the entire creator plotline, which sets up the subsequent films and creates a whole lot of story threads to explore....not to mention the Seeds, which are needed to get enough metal, and figure into Megatron's plot....

And you took out the concept of the Knights, which could turn into something really interesting....not to mention being an actual original concept for the Dinobots that establishes them as rebels from the creators and ancient-as-fuck warriors who've been in captivity for thousands if not millions of years....and you made them stupid again like the G1 cartoon....

Sorry, it looks like you gutted every single interesting thing in the film and made it as basic as possible, resulting in the entire first 2/3 of the film having nothing particularly threatening happening. And you changed all the things that you were wrong about or wish had happened - the Sonic, Ratchet, etc.

Might make for a good half-hour cartoon episode? There's no meat to it. Sorry.

Sorry, I stopped reading at 'Crosshairs, nicknamed Sunstreaker.' Although, it's amazing I got that far, I nearly stopped at 'Cade thinks that Transformers are just a myth.'

AoE story may not be the best, but you removed the best things in there to make your version.

Honestly there's nothing in there that improves the movie for me.

Some things I did not appreciate being taken out:

    * The subplot with the Creators
    * Lockdown
    * The human visual appearances of the Autobots. Hound's beard and belly and cigar is badass.
    * The molecular transformations of the KSI Decepticons.
    * Optimus' lack of hesitation to kill Attinger, the madman who will kill anyone without a second thought.
    * For that matter, the cutting of Optimus' entire character from the movie. Especially his rage over Ratchet's death.
    * Brains.
    * The Knight theme going with the Dinobots, as well as their extra horns and stuff.

The Sunstreaker thing, Hound dying, and the "Transformers are a myth" thing. No thank you.

    Big pass from me.

I know you put some time and thought into this OP and for that I applaud you. But no, just no. I quite like AOE the way it is. Posters above me have stated things that lead me to feel that way.

(I could have done without "Ratchet being brutally killed" part though.)

I think the whole movie should have been just the Autobots versus Lockdown.

...with Dinobots in there, of course. Because those guys are awesome.

My idea was that KSI is so rich and powerful, that the government is somewhat afraid of them, and they operate very secretly. Or that the government knows their building robots, they just don't know their killing Transformers to study them.

I actually toyed around with the idea, but it made me feel like I was completely adding a new character. Thanks!

Why is that so outrageous? People have noted the similarly between Crosshairs and Sunstreaker, and even Crosshsirs and Sideswipe. I thought it would add to the character to give him a relationship with an existing character, instead of just being another Autobot who randomly shows up on Earth.

And why is this ridiculous? Obviously many people in Chicago would know what happened, but to a farmer in Texas, it would just be another UFO sighing. Plus, the government would try to cover it up. That's what happened in TFP, and no one complained. Transformers are supposed to be robots in disguise, hiding is one if the points of the franchise.

I just don't see it. I thought Sunstreaker was a bright, flashy egomaniac and a jerk, while Crosshairs was more of a selfish mercenary.

Uhhh ... 'coz in Revenge of the Fallen, which is still canon despite backlash, The Fallen himself sent a broadcast revealing the truth to the entire world? The U.S government may be powerful, but it's not THAT powerful. Plus, there's news recordings, Sam's parents being kidnapped - you think if someone interviewed them and ask them if they were kidnapped by alien robots, they would say "no"? And people definitively saw saw the Decepticon protoforms crashing in ROTF, not to mention they were some survivors of the massacre in Chicago. They would verify reports.

Third most populous city in the United States gets utterly devastated in an invasion that is without a doubt 50 times worse than the September 11 terrorist attacks.

    Yeah, just another UFO sighting.

lockdown is the best villain in movieverse and he does not appear...

plus, the autobots are suddently in hong kong and you do not explain why and how

and the dinobots, giant powerful characters, are build by humans! seriously!

sideswipe alive... stinger is the only one with molecular transformation...
this is not a way to improve AOE
it is a way to make it what you want it to be...

I'll fully admit to not reading it because I knew I wouldn't like it, but I did read te cliff notes everyone was nice enough to make.

Yeah. This is literally impossible. In this day and age? Do you know how fast information travels? There's a reason the newspaper is considered snail mail. We can hear about a terrorist attack within the hour thanks to modern technology.

There have been attacks on Egypt, Shang-hai, a lot of US cities, and many other areas. Chicago is the cherry on top. And MAYBE you could get away with it if Cade was a homeless hobit living in the mountains of Tibet with no TV or internet or human interaction...

But people in Texas are NOT as stupid as you like to think they are! They don't hear about 9/11 and go "Ah, that's just a myth, sweetie!" Hell. Considering how patriotic the place stereotypical is, they'd be up in arms about it! Its almost offensive how stupid you want Texans to be.
