I bought an MP-36 Megatron a couple weeks ago on eBay, and it arrived today. Supposedly, it was new, never opened. I opened it up, noticed some joints were a little loose, but that wasn't a big deal. Then I tried to transform him to gun mode. Three steps in, and his armpit falls out, and I see this screw. It looks like it'd just screw back together, but I'm not sure how I'd do that considering there are no slots and I don't have a magnet that small. I have a couple pictures down below. Any help would be appreciated.
It's a rivet, a few people had a problem with it falling out in the initial run. @Jarrod , @Yaujta , or @BrutiKing may be ably to offer you some advice on reinstalling, those guys are pretty talented.
Same thing happened with mine. It was a super easy fix. I just lined it up, put a screwdriver on the head of the rivet and tapped the screwdriver a couple times with a pair of pliers and it snapped back in. Haven't had any issues with it since.
/\ I agree with that. Pins coming loose are oftentimes caused by them not being driven in far enough.
Hey, welcome! Noticed you're new here and already a slight mishap, which is unfortunate but it should be an easy fix. You can follow popcorn's instructions to reinstall the rivet, but it fit doesn't work, I would recommend using a really tiny drill bit or a toothpick (hold the thing with your hand) and try to clear out the area in the case that the screw is stripped. Then, put a dabble of superglue (I prefer gorilla gel superglue, since it doesn't spill everywhere) into that hole, put on the pieces for megatron's chest and slap on the rivet. Apply pressure and hold it into place for a minute or so, then leave it to cure for a day. It has worked wonders for me multiple times! Hope that helps! Thanks for pinging me @jackisking lol
To add to @BrutiKing 's comment on glue, be very careful with the amount used. You don't want the pin to plunge the glue up into the hinge, so the tiniest drop will do just to add added gripping power to the pin.
Just to add, I'd suggest putting MP36 on something soft(I used a pillow) just to reduced the risk of paint scratching when you pop the rivet back in.
Hey, sorry to beat a dead horse, but I have this issue too. Problem is, I'm missing the rivet. I got my MP-36 from Ebay and I guess whoever had it before me had the same problem and decided to sell it instead of fix it. Where can I get a new rivet and how can I fix it?
If you have looked at MP-44’s hip area, there are some screws that have a bit of extra diameter that can replace the rivet - maybe it may work if you can get ahold of one of those and screw it in place?
