Hi everyone, this is my first post. It all started after i saw the amazing work of unikrahn's Metroplex shelving unit, and i knew i had to build on for my self. But as a carpenter i decided to see if i could get Metroplex to transform as well. I kept it as simple as i could and with limited success, and a lot of effort the big guy goes from standing to sitting. At the moment hes about 70% done, he currently stands 218cm tall, and when in city mode takes up an area of 2.5m square. Because of his size my girlfriend wont let me bring him inside, so he lives out in my shed. Please let me know what you think, and any ideas to improve him.
I clicked here thinking, cool, a bunch of Metroplexes on a shelf. Uh-uh. This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen here, period. I hope your shed is weatherproof. What's he made of? How many people does it take to transform him? What else do you have planned for him? You have got to get him into your house! Give her a ring so she'll let you! Totally awesome! Edit- As for ideas to improve him, yikes. Surface detailing is all I can think of, 3D parts and bits to make him look more mechanical. That and invite me over to play.
FUCKING Awesome ! I have plans/dreams to do something very similar as my last project...as in when I am done with all my other transformer projects . I would love to know more . What did you use for the joints ? Is it mostly made out of wood ? I love the compartments in the thighs , I had the same thoughts for mine ..........OH YEAH best 1st post ever ! Welcome to the radicons !
WOW!!! I've seen big Transformer cabinets before, but never one that can be Transformed! Very impressive. I can't wait to see what you do with the final 30%. Incidentally, I think you've just usurped the crown for largest fully transformable custom Transformer ever away from Foxhunter's Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime. Kudos.
Wow i didnt think i would get replys this quick. Hes entirely made out of MDF, with a few swear words i can transform him my self but a lot easier with 2 people. All of his joints are made from 3, 16mm mdf glued together and cut to shape, and a 12mm steal bolt throw the middle, each joint is 150mm wide. Sorry to everyone in the US for the cm, and mm, i dont know what they are in inchs. Here are a few pics before i stared painting.
Awesome when did they start making legends sized FOC metroplex figs?? Oh wait, wholey-shit, that thing is massive. But my man there needs some bigger hands. Egg-cellent job my friend and thank you for sharing this with us. Welcome to Radicons. Edit: You could add some red reflective tape like what I did HERE. Found at most hardware places like Home Depot her in the States. Zed
HOLY! Best Transformer display EVER! Now,the problem you have starting off like this on Radicons is everyone is going to expect bigger and badder from you here on out. Welcome!
this thing is amazing, in a way its like a masterpiece metroplex? i think you have nailed the looks of it and two things i would improve on would be - level of surface details and i would add some lighting effects. possibly such as smaller level LED light up areas as well as larger strip/cluster lights. but well done on this
Gawd I hope my kids love tfs so I can justify making stuff like this, right now I don't have an excuse too. Great job man, could use more techy looking details though, maybe some led strips, etc.
I looked at his face and thought "That looks an awful lot like Iron ma-- OH WAIT." That is, like, the best display case ever. It's gotta be a pain to transform at that size, though.
