2 observations: 1.) A traditionally animated film going to theaters in a wide release? What sorcery is this!? 2.) We should petition to rename the movie My Little Pony: Shit Gets Real.
It's the exact same ploy they used in the 80s with Transformers, My Little Pony's original feature adventure in G1 days and even the Care Bears movie. There was no Frank Welker or Chris Latta, it was Orson Welles, Lionel Stander, Hot Rod's VA and Robert Stack. Sadly the bigger names draw the crowds more familiar with them. This is going to be sooooo epic.
Yeah, it's an annoying practice, but I understand why. BTW, movie confirmed to clock in at 99 minutes. Equestria Daily - MLP Stuff!: MLP Movie Confirmed to be 99 Minutes Long, New Movie Pictures Revealed I'm going to assume the credits are going to be like 5 minutes, (unless they pull a Transformers The Last Knight) so we're essentially getting an over 90 minute movie, which certainly beat my guess of an 80 minute flick with credits.
Judd Nelson (Bender from Breakfast Club) voiced Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime in the '86 movie, then reprised the role in Animated Season 3.
Does anyone know the name of the song from the trailer or is it new for the movie? Also, I do have to admit it looks reslly good. I don't think I can drag my lonely ass into a theater to watch it and creep out all mothers and daughters in the theater though. Guess I'll just wait for dvd or something.
Pretty sure it's a song by the Pop Singer 'Sia' who is the popstar 'Buttercream' that shows up in the trailer.
Been a long time since I posted here. I kind of lost interest in MLP, and only watched 2 episodes or so of the newest season, but the movie has me intrigued. The animation in the trailer looks really nice, but I do think some of the light and shadow work looks way too...Photoshop-bevel-filter in a number of the shots. It's not traditionally animated, it's animated in Toon Boom Harmony using character builds with deformable parts. It's a pretty common thing in Vancouver's (and Ottawa's) animation scene. The Lion Guard is the closest thing I think I could compare this movie's animation to.
Haven't paid attention to Pony merch for a while, when did they stop with the spaghetti-hair plushes?
Look up the German version of the trailer - the shading isn't weird at all despite being the same trailer almost shot-for-shot.
