I just read issue 1. Picked up the Ghost variant and the Subscription variant.

    SPOILERS BELOW!!!

Overall...I liked it. Andy Price just went crazy with the facial expressions. Most of the humor was good. I feel like it was catered towards us bronies, and it really shows. For example, Derpy was featured in about 3-4 pages. Also, Pinkie breaking out her Party Cannon was great :lol

I thought it was pretty cool. Art takes some getting used to, but the fam-fam and I collect hardcovers. I sure hope it's eventually released as a hardcover with the rest of the issues.

I know this is what this section of the Forum is for, but couldn't we discuss this in the usual MLP thread?

On-topic: I found some of the art a little weird, some of the Facial expressions just didn't match some of script, and is it just me or a lot of Ponies are getting Rarity's hair style?

I thought about it, and I figured that this would be a nice place to discuss it without spoiler tags and to discuss it without spoiling anything for anyone else, and yeah I noticed it too, I want to see fan art of that :lol  and I do agree that the art style takes some getting used to but it's pretty good overall

I think the only problem I had was Applejack scolding the others. When Pinkie or Dash said something and she tried to admonish them for being slightly selfish, uncaring or silly, it seemed like she was about to tear their head off.

    Aside from that no problems.

Well, you have to remember, AJ's little sister was kidnapped and is in danger. She wasn't in the mood for any jokes or shenanigans.

True, but even early on, like on pg 5. They were going heavy on the expression, which is cool, but it made them look legitimately mad, when in fact they'd just be exasperated. I think just pull back the emotion a bit and this series will be gold.

Yeah, I admit that AJ was looking pretty pissed during that page, but I'd say her attitude and reactions for the rest of the comic are spot on.

Oh good grief, did anyone else notice Magnum PI and Higgins selling mustaches in the opening ponyville spread?

Ooh. This forum is now relevant to my interests.

I liked it. It felt a little rushed, especially at the beginning with how they handled the sudden changeling army and their rapid defeat, but whatever. Sending the mane 6 off on a dangerous quest into the unknown was a great ending hook – and they have a talking Chrysalis Palantir-thingy to taunt them, too. Should be entertaining.

One thing that I did find confusing was the zombie ponies vs. changeling impersonators. It wasn't clear if the zombies were supposed to be the changelings or if they were a whole separate thing, like brainwashed or something. The idea must have come from the zombie bridesmaids in Canterlot Wedding, part 2 but I thought they were just regular ponies Not!Cadance had put under a spell. In the comic, it was like changeling replacement itself produced zombies, except that when the changelings started duplicating the mane 6, they were all normal. What gives?

Andy Price and Katie Cook have ponified versions of themselves in that shot, too. It's cute.

Don't wait! The success of comics is measured in individual sales; the more people hold off waiting for the collections the less well the line will be seen as performing and the lower our chances of getting more pony swag down the line. Granted, the imprint is already a runaway success, but still...

I'm guessing the two at the front with the "pontiac" and "Batpencil" cutie marks?

    He's got a point

I was actually thinking about that earlier today. A good example is Fluttershy on page 19. But, I do agree...dial down the facial expressions just a bit, and it would be perfect.

I was wondering who those ponies were! Cool! Also, Sibsy's OC is in there as well

I'm actually enjoying the facial expressions.
Then again, I'm used to reading comics where there are no facial expressions (Masked characters), character's who's only emotion is "Mouth open. Mouth closed" (Unmasked and the DW TF comics), and etc. (And yes, I know it's mostly my fault in my decisions of what to read)
So I'm enjoying the cartoonishly angry scowls and expressions.

Well...I liked Applejack's facial expression on page 4 when she's looking over her shoulder at Applejack, just sometimes it gets too crazy like Fluttershy on page 19.

I actually found that cartoonishly hilarious. Especially the part where you can see her heart in her throat. It was a bit much, yeah, but I still liked it. :lol

All I can think is "Fluttershy's heart grew three sizes that day"
