We just had to reboot because the movies did so poorly and you're suggesting we already move to four movies a year about characters the general public has never heard of?

Not everyone knew who Iron Man and Captain America were and look at those!

Edit: NOT EVERYONE meaning the general audience wasn’t that familiar with the character. I’m aware he’s been around since the 60s, that’s not what I was saying.

It's a neat concept, but I think the series needs to start much slower. Outside of Iron Man (who was more of a B superhero), most of the early Marvel movies were somewhat safe. Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man 2 etc. Once they grounded their universe and established it as profitable, that's when they started branching out into weirder and more obscure stuff like Guardians of the Galaxy.

    My "Phase 1" would be:

    1. Bumblebee/Optimus team-up movie
    2. Animated Cybertron Prequel
    3. Big team movie (live-action, set on Earth).

That's it. For "Phase 2", I'd do stuff like Beast Wars, a second big team movie, and maybe something like a Jazz spin-off. Or maybe just another Bumblebee standalone movie. Maybe "Phase 3" could get into weirder stuff, but probably not as obscure as Cyclonus or Elita 1. Maybe we could get a Wreckers movie, or a (very) loose animated adaptation of MTMTE/Lost Light. I wouldn't hold my breath for that sort of stuff any time soon though.

You clearly don't understand a single reason why Cinematic Universes FAIL. You're too focused on the illustrious status of having a bunch of films with the gimmick of being connected, and not in terms of treating each film as a standalone, actually quality production.

    Bullshit.

Captain America has been one of Marvel's leading men since literally WWII and Iron Man has been a key Marvel hero since his inception in 1963.

Iron Man was a B lister at best before the movie.

    Again, BULLSHIT.

You see the gold guy? THAT'S IRON MAN.

This issue came out in 1963, the same year Iron Man debuted.

Hi, I think you have very creative ideas and concepts. None of this would work though simply because the general public doesn’t know these characters, even some casual fans don’t even know the story of Orion like we do.

His point is that Iron Man has always been a prominent member of the Avengers and Marvel overall even before the 2008 movie.

It's one of the reasons he was chosen to be the first Marvel movie.

His point is the character has been around since the early sixties, meaning your statement about Ironman was false.

Don't mistake age and importance to be equal to popularity. Let's not forget that no one was breaking down Marvel's door to make an Iron Man movie. Marvel Studios had to pay for the movie themselves. Wasp is also a founding member of the Avengers and has been around since the 60s. It took her like 10 years to get into the MCU.

No, it was just in development since 1990. Along side other rather forgettable films about Captain America (who has had films on and off through the years, I've seen both the ones from the 1970s and they're abysmally boring) and Hulk.

    https://io9.gizmodo.com/the-complete-history-of-marvel-superhero-movies-1990-2-1691891718

Yes, it was a colossal risk, but one that obviously paid off exponentially since it did launch the MCU over a decade ago - and then Disney bought the firm a year after the film's release which pretty much guaranteed no more financial issues ever.

Because her superpower is becoming tiny. She wouldn't have fit into the early MCU at all, which was focused on big explosive action on the major heroes as well as setting up the Avengers proper who are busy punching aliens, slamming Loki around like a rag doll, and generally making a big glorious mess of everything.

Not to mention they completely had to rebuild the Ant Man character in order to get Wasp in, because they NEVER were going to get away with the OG Hank Pym who infamously slapped his wife (and also was the original creator of Ultron). MCU Hank Pym is still kind of an abrasive asshole (in the best way) but he's a hell of a lot nicer compared to the original.

None of this disproves my point that despite being around for decades prior to the MCU Iron Man was never in the same league as Spider-Man, Wolverine, or the Hulk.

This thread is going off the rails. I think it’s best if it’s locked. There’s nothing good at all coming out of this. We seem to be talking about Ironman exclusively. First day on the boards and this is what I encounter....

I meant no disrespect, or to upset you.

Sorry, man. people are usually able to have good discussions on here, but someone decided to get hung up on one thing that I might’ve worded differently. I regret posting about Marvel now lmao.

Wolverine didn't even have his own standalone comic for decades while Iron Man did.

However, it's still driving this thread off topic, so no point in continuing this discussion.
