He was 90. I guess after you've outlived a wife, two children and a grandchild you're just ready to go. I lost my Mom when I was 7. A train hit her car, and it always seems to be such a beautiful day when someone close to me dies. Sorry to unload on you guys like this, but I just needed to tell somebody. Thanks for listening, if nothing else.
Be glad he had a long life, and you got to spend much more time with him. My condolences for your loss.
I'm really sorry to hear that man, I really am. I hope you and your family will be okay through this tough time.
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's sad to lose them, but try to remember all the good times you had with him.
Man, I am sorry. It is never easy losing a loved one. And when a lot of people around you pass on, it is easy to fall into a dark place. Just remember that they had the joy of being able to live in this incredible world and experience it's wonders. And they will always be up in heaven, watching over you. As long as thier memories are alive, you are never alone.
Thank you all for your kind words. They really help. You'll never know how much. I'll always miss him. He served under General Patton during WWII and I used to love hearing his stories about the battlefront. He was with them when they marched into Russia in the dead of winter and they had to wrap their arms around the trees and sleep standing up or they would have frozen to death on the ground.
Condolences, but it sounds like he had a very full life - so the best to do now is just celebrate the best of what he did and had, and remember that when you're feeling sad.
