My mom always told me,"Do one good deed everyday". I was at Wal-mart on Monday browsing, and of course nothing new. There was a mother and her two sons there also. The younger one was on cloud nine already because he got his Power Ranger! *cue guy in cardbord city* The older one(probably about eight) had like ten bucks to spend on a transformer. He picked out a deluxe Jazz, and saw a pic of BB on the card back. He and mom went through every peg and no '08 BB. I was just casualy looking at the deluxes placed up on the risers, and somewhat to my surprise I yank out an '08 BB. Luckily I already had him, so I made the day of some kid because he walked out with his Bumblebee.
That is awesome. We are all granted the ability to choose. You could have chosen the easy path and kept Bumblebee for yourself, in the package, with the possibility of potential ebay riches.... instead you chose to put the Bee where he would do the most good. You chose wisley.
Reminds me a little of a Wal-Mart around Xmastime. I overheard a couple shopping and looking for Optimus Prime unsuccessfully. I saw what appeared to be the only Prime on the overhead shelf, got it down, and casually placed it down in front of them.
Cool. I've never had a chance to do something like this, but I'm sure I would have done the same thing. The closest thing that I've done is help a mother find a Leader Brawl at Christmas.
Well then I'll just do my civic duty and drink your brewskey to keep alcohol out of the hands of of minors.
Props man. Always enjoy helping out younger collectors/fans, and the (usually) clueless parents in need. Had a similar occurance myself, only I gave up a figure I needed. Was a good feeling and I managed to find it the next day I was out anyways.
I was at Target with my mom and a woman started browsing though Tfs and asked me if I was into them (duh). So she wanted to know what was the best for her to choose for her 3 nephews/grandsons, I pointed out Dropkick, Wreckage, and Longarm (all others were average shelfwarmers). Felt good knowing Christmas morning they would wake up with those guys.
if i see a Veruca Salt disciple in a store, i tend to go outta my way to foil their plot to obtain and destroy a decent TF. but there those moments when ya just know putting something within reach will make a difference. could be wrong about the kid eventually, but as for yourself, you are okay and better for doing it. you gots my respect (and who let the beerboy in here? shoulda told him to bring something stiffer, lol!) and my hats off to ya. hope you have a good week for it.
This kid wasn't quite a "Veruca Salt disciple", since his mom kept reminding him he had only $10 or $12(I remember that was a freakin' fortune at his age). Thank you for the kind words though.
You should have given that kid a lesson on "real life" and told him he could have the Bumblebee for $20.
Seriously though, that was a cool thing to do for the little guy. Unfortunately, the mom probably thinks your a pedo. But we sir know better, and give you this...
