Not a celebrity, but my father passed away early this morning.

He was released from the hospital a few days ago after internal bleeding from some ulcers, which ended up causing a minor heart attack.

Apparently he had some weird pains and went to the ER. Ended up having a massive heart attack while being flown to Pittsburgh and died when he reached the hospital there.

He would have been 66 in April :(

My dad passed away early Saturday morning.

Today, I found out that he didn't have any life insurance. I was told yesterday that family would be able to go see him and say goodbye before they cremate him. I took my two girls with me to say goodbye to grandpa. Got there to find out that he's just laying on a table, with a sheet covering all but his head. No way I could let the girls see him so they stayed in the waiting area.

I wasn't going to start a new thread, but after talking to a mod, I figured I might.

My father died early Saturday morning of a massive heart attack while being flown to Pittsburgh. It all happened pretty fast. He had been in the hospital the week before because of some ulcers that has burst, which caused a minor heart attack. He was released and we thought he was doing good.

Saturday morning, I'm getting ready to leave Wal-Mart with my daughters, when I get a message from my cousin. He said my father passed away. I could hardly believe it, even now that I've seen him, it seems like a bad dream.

My youngest daughter Livi never even met him due to issues with my mom and my sisters. Yesterday, my mom told me that there was to be a opportunity for family to see him and say goodbye this afternoon and there wasn't going to be a service. He didn't have insurance and they couldn't afford a service and burial. So I took both of my daughters to say goodbye only to find out that the funeral home had him just lying on a table with a sheet covering everything but his head. I couldn't let my daughters see him like that, so they stayed in the waiting area with my cousin. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that my last memory of my father will be him just lying on a table after being recently embalmed.

My sister arranged a wake for him tomorrow night, so there will be some kind of service for him, even though he won't be there. He was going to be cremated shortly after we saw him today.

He was a retired Alabama State Trooper, and pretty much the only member of my family that I got along with. I hadn't really spoken to him much in the last few years because of fighting with my two sisters and my mom. Really wish I had but that opportunity is gone now. He would have been 66 years old in April.

Prayers and Condolences... to you and yours. He was too young and you both should have had more time to enjoy.

(as discussed gonna move over all the previous posts in other threads, will delete as you request, just lmk----the only problem, they will move your original post for this thread)

    Really sorry.

Are you sure he didn't have some kind of insurance from being a trooper?

You have my condolences, it can't be easy losing him that soon.

If it's any comfort you should know that is generally how deceased patients are set up by hospitals for visitors as it's supposed to look peaceful like they are just in a light sleep. The face and head is what people want to talk to and is the most important recognisable feature of the body and hides any possible cuts and sewing from autopsy and the like. When I said goodbye to two of my grandparents they were in exactly the same way.
