I work at a fast food restaurant, and just three weeks ago within three days three employees have quit, and now were understaff. I work 6 days a week and I am not sure if I get days off or not. My boss is not looking hard enough to find employees to make us work less hours. I work close to 50 hours a week. And just last week my boss told me I am closing on Friday's which means I will work from 12pm to 11 pm with just 30 mins break and even if I am lucky to get it. I go to school at nights and I can't even concentrate cause I am tired. Now the thing is, is my boss obliged to make me close on Friday's if I don't want? Cause I used to do from 12 pm to 9 pm before on Friday's. What you think it's the right approach to tell my boss that I don't want to close on Friday's without being rude and without getting myself hated. Thanks
tell him you have school and you can't not sure what the rules are in Canada but in the US there are rules about not having days off and shit make sure they are following the rules
There are also rules about how long your break should last depending on how many hours a day you work. Based on what you wrote, sounds like you should be getting a hour break everyday.
School is more important. If you cant concentrate you need to cut back. Prioritize. School comes first!
