Disney owns some of those movies now, so maybe they will. And if anybody could afford to license the rest of it over again, it's Disney. Here's hoping they can keep it uncut.

And if they do leave it uncut, maybe I can hope for an eventual restored rebroadcast of Kidd Video :D

EDIT: Oh, it's a reboot! Yeah, they could still include a lot of Marvel and Lucasfilm stuff either way.

Yeah Disney owns Marvel and Lucasfilm so we probably would get more of the same cameos/references/etc.

Sweet. My three year old twin boys are loving the original Muppet Babies. Hopefully, this will be as good as the original was. I think the original still holds up really really well.

    GOoooooo bye-bye!

As in, the ending quote, not actually telling the show to go away....

Too bad the original isn't available on DVD.

It's pretty much impossible to get rights to all of the cutaway footage they used on that show.

It's nice to hear this is coming back, but I can't image it will even remotely touch the original.

Not gonna lie -- I loved Muppet Babies when I was young.

Though I'd prefer to see the original series on Netflix, I might check this out.

3 dvds with one episode each was released with toys long ago but are high price now. They were "safe" episodes that didn't have much movie clips for copyright. Kidd video and muppet babies will never get on dvd unless they are badly edited. Muppet babies had cameos from ghostbusters, jetsons, Charlie brown (with new lines!), blondie, ET, wizard of oz and more. Some cameos are just clips and others are new animation. Kidd video has the same fate. Every song of the 80s is in that show! You can't cut them out without messing up the plot also. Billie jean played a big role in one episode and so did ghostbusters!

It's certainly not impossible, considering they had to do it for the original broadcast and reruns. They just don't want to spend the money and effort on a decades old cartoon at this point.

Yup, they came out approximately 2005. My wife and I had bought them for my step son, he's in high school now. But my three year old twin boys are getting to enjoy them now.

By the way. TV and DVD rights are not the same thing. This is why muppet family Christmas had half the special cut out on dvd due to song rights but the tv airing was uncut. Disney can air muppet babies uncut on tv just fine. DVD would mean paying for rights to the clips and cameos.

Yep. Popped in just to say exactly that. The old shows are such a mess of copyright issues that they'll never get a release. It's too bad, and it's exactly why a new Muppet Babies would NEVER follow the old formula. Even with Disney owned movies the copyright issues would still be there.

It's true that they're not the same, but we also can't assume that Disney currently has permission to rebroadcast the original show uncut without paying new royalties. Domestic TV broadcast reruns of Captain N and Kidd Video had to be edited due to the licensed music.

Summer Penguin looks totally out of place among the rest. And also, that name is totally out of place too. But, doesn't look too bad. Nothing I'll watch. But, probably wasn't going to watch it anyways, seeing that it'd most likely be on Disney's toddler channel. Only thing ever good to come out of that was Lazy Town.

Speaking of which, I think that is how they should have done it. Should have gone more for a lazy town type thing. With lots of CG, real puppets, and a real human girl.

Now, that I would have watched.
