According to events listed on TFWiKi, we learn that:
And it's the same post which gives me the impression that "1st Cycle 3178" is read "the 1st something (year? month?) of Cycle 3178", instead of "3178th something (day?) of the 1st Cycle".

But in the preview of Lost Light 2, Rewind says that 1st Cycle 3041 is "NOW", emphasizing they've not traveled back in time but merely "jumped" in space. However, Cycle 3041 is waaay before Simanzi, considering J. Roberts said that a cycle is something like centuries or millennia. So is it an error?

The way it's phrased makes me think the '1st/2nd' whatever are even biggier things. Like you get so many thousand years in an X, then things start over in the next from year 1. Kinda like the Mayan calendar.

But terminology of units isn't always consistent, it could just be an error.

It's been confirmed by Roberts that it's the "Nth of Cycle 123". For an example, the time periods from Elegant Chaos in chronological order were:

    1st Cycle 012 - Megatron is born.
4th Cycle 499 - Events of "Chaos Theory"
    51st Cycle 500 - Events of MTMTE #34
    4th Cycle 501 - Events of "Shadowplay"
    1st Cycle 502 - Events of MTMTE #36

So you can see it's the second number that's progressing.

The present-day Cycle in LL #1 is just an error - not the first that's cropped up with this dating system.
