I'd really like it to be Strika. It would stand to reason she would have had less of a 'Vehiconish' face in her previous life. Right colours, right build.. Her head handle really reminds me of something tho, or someone, but can't place it.

 

Heh, lady bots with visors and monoeyes, I remember asking for those in one of the Fan-Built threads.   Now we just need one with clampy claws and another with a gun-arm.

Looked again, and the shoulders do look a bit Strika-ish. And that head. I'm operating under the belief that if Strika were to show up, she'd look more traditional (look at Tankor and other imports), but not too much to go on at the moment.

"Roadmaster" eh? Apparently she turns into a large Cybertronian (or Camian, or whatever other colony world) Buick.

No wonder they had Energon problems. All these new characters keep showing up!

Mass fembot genocide when? I always thought that happened to the fembots in the original cartoon. Explains why there were so few of them.

I like the cover, but I still say the femme bots look a bit like dudes in drag. It's the ridiculous lipstick.

If you're going for gender-less designs, go for it (sans lipstick).

If you're going for female designs, don't put lipstick on male bodies!    

But for the record, I don't even understand the existence of females in the TF world. Why are there designated genders at all, when TFs do not reproduce? What is the function of a rugged, muscled female vs her male counterpart?

I think the IDW guys are just trying to spice up a TF world that shouldn't have been gender-less to begin with. If TF characters could actually reproduce with one another, we might have some interesting genetic combinations and successors.

Plus the sheer soap opera goodness of having Megs knock up Windblade (for example)!  

 

So what makes a male Transformers body male. Just curious? I mean Male TF's come in all shapes and sizes. Massive bulky bots. Tiny mini bots that also have a variety of shapes from stout, skinny, boxy or curvy. Or spindly bird-like bots with digi-grade legs like Whirl. We even have slim(some might even say feminine) bots like Rung or Minimus so what exactly makes them distinctively male?

And a follow up question. Does this mean the female Transformers are only allowed to be one particular shape now? If that's the case then we've got a problem. If all the guy bots can be every shape and form under the sun that doesn't leave a lot for the ladies to work with. Unless, crazy thought here, the Fembots can be like actual women and also be any size and shape.

And female Transformers have been there since the very beginning, so it makes sense to include them now.

Answer to bolded part: Same reason as the male bot I would imagine. To be muscled, rugged and awesome, obviously.

 

I hope my comic store still has a copy when I can get there!

Can I just say once again how awesome these names are?

I mean, Nautica is cool, but the "a" at the end is pretty blatantly feminine. Here we have ROADMASTER and VELOCITY! Like, these are actually awesome names that could substitute for male transformers as well. I love it.
