Attack of the Unicron Trilogy Cameos!

 

Too much talking in this series and not enough action.

 

I kinda like all this sort of politic discussion that been happening in this series, it lets you get to know a character better in some ways, especially prepared to them always fighting, action is good but if that all a comic is it kinda gets boring, but hey thats just me  

 

I'm really thinking that Badge Inspector is going to make a snide remark and kick MiniMagnus only to break his foot against his windshield.

Wow. People may call it talky, they may complain about info-dumps... but I missed this. Three pages, and more to chew on than a trilogy of Bayformers. Love it! Milne is in excellent form here as well! Soooo many cameos... maybe that's why he had to take some breaks this year.

Still hating the glowy sparkle vents that the new colourist is using. Looks ugly as hell.

Some interesting arguments put forward about the alternate timeline... I think that's a damn clever theory, especially considering the recent Brainstorm reveals and the recurring motif of "edits" in the narrative.

However... I'm still not convinced. As has been pointed out before, Rewind (and probably the Ambus bros.) is pretty old. Just because this is pre-war, doesn't mean we're talking about the immediate prewar era. Giving up Luna-2, deporting the Knock-Offs... there's still plenty to support these being historical shifts that were reversed later on (references to Starscream's assault on Luna-2 during the war, Megatron saying "I thought that wasn't supposed to matter anymore" when asked if he was forged back in Chaos Theory).

The bits about the intellectual class and the senate feel odd though...

I had exactly the same thought. Great point.

It's also possible that Rewind never knew what happened to Minimus. He may not have known Magnus' secret. But yeah... that might have been an interesting response to see.

It may have softened by the time we get to Shadowplay, but it still seems like the interdictions were there. Remember Megatron was a big opponent of Functionism, so it was still a factor. But yeah... based on these segregation rules, it seems weird to have heavy labour bots like Megs and Impactor in the same drinking establishment as Rung. Unless Rung's "ornament" mode made him low-class?

At the same time, even as far back as Nova Prime's time, Rung was known as an influential thinker. It seems like he might have retained SOME standing at least.

Admittedly, a bit misleading. It really looks like a Megagun.

It also might have been a point of pride, re-taking Cybertronian soil for Cybertron, instead of bartering with organics. It might have been one of those rabble-rousing points that helped rally the Decepticons, and it could explain the particular animosity Cons seem to have for organic worlds.

The Black Box Consortium has been mentioned before too, but I"m not sure if we got any more context about them...

 

Action is like alcohol. It should be a part of your meal, not a main course. And too much of it will make you brain dead.

Nice! This'll be coming when I'm out of school. I love all of the Unicron Trilogy cameos! And I'm jumping on the bandwagon of Brainstorm altering time in some instance.

 

so what was the first season's theme ? Failure (kinda like Venture Bros)? Someone mentioned redemption, but I think it's more of a sub-theme.

In the previous issue there was mention of the "Black Block Consortia," but here we get mention of a "Black Box Consortia." Hmmm...

 

Another point for the alternate timeline theory - According to MTMTE #12, Rewind and Dominus Ambus were not on Cybertron during time immediately before the war broke out. They were searching for Luna-1 and didn't return to Cybertron until after the war was in full swing. I suppose if we're still a significant time before Megatron: Origin begins they'd still have time to leave on their quest for Luna-1 in this story, so I guess we'll see.

That's like saying "Gald I'm not the only one to notice Minimus Ambus in there."  

 

I like the unicron trilogy reference with all those characters.

Reading this through again (noticing all of the cameos now), it feels like this whole scene builds up to all of the D-Class bots being loaded into a transport shuttle and dumped into a shredder.

Maybe in the IDW continuity they are seperate beings like Megatron and Galvatron are here?
