That's a little sad. I was expecting some big confrontation when he finally sees Megatron again. Oh well! MTMTE still heaps of villains to get through, with the DJD, Tyrest and Star Saber all still at large.
I really liked this issue! Had to keep myself a bit together, because I secretly read it at work this morning. Could not wait But I'm wondering what will happen when the other Rewind stumbles across this Rewind. Rewind's death was not confirmed. Just assumed. And I think Rewind and Overlord are still alive. Can't believe Brainstorm's the double agent! Not Brainstorm!
Not what he said before And I'd also point out Overlord IS dead...this Overlord. Ours...yeah I'm going to assume the near indestructible killing machine last seen fully intact isn't dead and will be back. A writer would be crazy to permanently kill a character with that much of a relationship to the new captain
The thing I keep going to back to after I read this issue over and over: The Briefcase is open. Roberts has said in the past that the briefcase was his "break glass" way of wrapping up the overall plot fast if he absolutely positively had to to it. So does that mean we're about to start into the endgame of the book? Does it mean he's playing the briefcase card without heading for the endgame? Very puzzling.
I posted a link to a video of that panel before. It's a tong in cheek response as far as I can tell and not an actual statement. And in any case, Rewind was dead as doornail too.
Loved the Skids-Megs conversation. The Brainstorm reveal (legit or not) made me lose my shit. And I'm in the crowd of people who aren't fans of Rewind coming back, even if it isn't technically the Rewind who died last year. I grieved for Rewind myself, and him coming back just irks me wrong. I doubt it'll be rainbows and butterflies though, but it would suck if Chromedome had to lose Rewind again.
He said it at both panels though. And nobody asked if Rewind was dead as a doornail. Plus there'd be no reason to be outright lie in front of several hundred people. He could've just said "I can't say." Also isn't the second Overlord (the one on the destroyed LL) dead too, basically?
He hasn't explained the briefcase yet. This is actually a fantastic tease - we DID get to see it open, but have NO clue what it properly does. As for endgame, he just tweeted out today that he can confirm Volume 9 of the TPBs will be issues 45-49... we're gonna be going for awhile still.
I like that Megatron had no real reason to lie to Rewind about the "true" Chromedome and Rewind, but he did anyway. Edit: I also like how the list on the Wiki shows Brainstorm under the Decepticon column.
When he missed his arms didn't go in, just half the sparkeater and half his head from what I gather from the panel
alright this issue sealed it for me. nautica is great. the best of our current fembots and why in the hell do we not have a figure of her yet??? she has the most personality and seems all around awesome. third party..hasbro i dont care who SOMEONE MAKE US A NAUTICA...my universe ravage has no one to pet him.....sad kitty.
The more I think about it, the more I don't believe Brainstorm is a traitor. The con symbol behind his mask, or even him opening the suitcase in the bar have to have another reason. I'm switching my suspicions to Red Alert. He's one of the original crew, and on our LL found Overlord on his own and then took himself out of the equasion by ripping his own head off. We also know he has been shadowplayed in the past. In the crime scene with Prowl and Chromedome, he stands in iv-light and it reveals needle injections in the back of his neck. Maybe Red Alert is an unwilling sleeper agent, and on LL2 he was 'activated'? Of course, we might never know now that LL2 has vanished.
If that is true, which I hope it is because Brainstorm is indeed one of my favorite Autobots, then Fortress Maximus is likely to be in need of some saving from evil Red Alert on Luna 1. BRING ON SPOTLIGHT FORT MAX, Penciled by MILNE, and written by ROBERTS. PLZ. PRETTY PLZ. MULTIPASS
