Generally that went almost exactly as most people expected. A very odd experience. But the revelation that Spoiler Brainstorm might be a traitor...... I wasn't sure I took that at face value till the last panel. Still aren't. The page in space 3 pages from the end is FAB Up now on Comixology US https://www.comixology.com/Transfor...-33-Dawn-of-the-Autobots/digital-comic/142866 UK https://www.comixology.co.uk/Transf...-33-Dawn-of-the-Autobots/digital-comic/142866
I'm stunned into speechlessness. I'm just what holy crap. Only thing I want to say though is how symbolic Chromedomes death is like wow. Btw how does everyone do that spoiler bar there's a lot more I want to say but like I don't wan to spoil anybody.
My favourite panel was Spoiler Megatron asking for the reason why he should be risking his life to save the planet's inhabitants, when there mightn't even be any, and Skids points to the Autobot symbol on Megatron's chest. "Right. There." LOVED that. Chromedome and Rewind being reunited was very sweet, too. And WHAT THE FUCK BRAINSTORM?!?!?!?!?!
Quote this post and that'll show you how I do it Spoiler see! Though to be honest anyone coming in here should have read the issue so spoilers should be unnecessary. And they're a ****** to read on iPad.
Personally I enjoy the quote "When everyone lining up to make sacrifices always get to the back of the queue" the most from Megatron this issue. I enjoyed this issue, wouldn't had originally, great to have Rewind back, also agree I wouldn't be taking Brainstorm revelation to heart just yet so far MTMTE nothing is what it seems at first, plus there that point one percenter spark he took, I'm guessing that can still be a big plotline down the road. Also people who think Tarn is Dominus, this issue can help that theory out a bit, certainly explains him knowing about Rewind and Chromedome and the Ultra Magnus armor.
I was thinking the DJD could have drawn the Decepticon symbol there..... .....but the last panel..... Of course now Rewind's back that makes me even more sure OUR Rewind will eventually turn out to be alive and we'll have to sit back and watch the hilarious consequences.
Though got me thinking when Overlord escape from the slow cell in LL1, shouldn't his signature showed up then, not sure when the attack took place in the timeline compared to the attack on LL2, but if it was before the LL1 incident, then Rewind been floating around in the wreck LL2 for over a year or so. Also presumably Overlord is still alive but deactivated and floating around space, granted if the DJD found him there they wouldn't find the Lost Light but that would be lazy story telling, I'm still expecting a Overlord vs Megatron showdown at some point.
Wha? *is hit by a feel* GAH! That was a really sweet page. I know there are those who are unhappy with Rewind's return but it will be interesting to see where the couple goes from here. He IS Rewind but a Rewind who has had different(and horrifying) experiences to the Rewind we came to know. How will Chromedome deal with that. How will Rewind deal with a Chromedome who fell off the wagon? So many interesting possibilites! And Skids! I've always been fond of Skids but that speech! Brilliant. He's really shined these past few issues. Just never stop being so Skidsy. And Brainstorm? Hm, honestly I'm not too shocked. Not in the sense that he's a potential spy but in that he seems to have gone "You know what? Fuck it. Fuck it all" we'll see how that developes but there is obviosly more to it than we know. What I will point out is Atomizer popping up again. This is the first timevwe've seen him after the List incident, and the bot he's chatting with is a possible spy? Maybe the List was really alist of people who could possibly be swayed to the Decepticon cause or something like that.
I think Rewind could forgive Chromedome for going off the Wagin since he was willing to phase from existence than not be together with him, they are not so different from each other in that regard, plus this is the first time Chromedome hasn't wipe a decease love one from his memory so that says a lot about their relationship.
I think I should have expected something like this to happen to Pipes: being ripped in half while Tarn pulls a one handed 360 back flip jumping no scope headshot. Also, Ravage best pet.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that issue! the feels! the art! the dialogue! and the ENDING! I admit all of the quantum theory went over my head these past few issues but its nice to see that it is all coming together. Man just the fact that we have a Chromedome who saw Rewind die and a Rewind who saw Chromedome die just makes the relationship so much better though I fear this might be a setup for more heartbreak along the way. I really would love to see what theories people on this forum come up with as an explanation for the briefcase and Rewind being present when the Crew returns. Somehow i think Nightbeat and Nautica might not be affected by brainstorm's briefcase due to being in possession of another version. However i don't really completely buy the double agent thing. I think Brainstorm might be pursuing his own agenda but i really love him so much and hope he doesn't become a big villain! I'm fairly confident that the primary reason why he was killed by the DJD is because the undercover Autobot discovered his secret identity and murdered him as payback for betraying the autobots. Also one strange thing i noticed was that Rewind's mentions that they discovered UM's identity when they were inside of him as shown in the annual. What i don't get is how did Rewind, Skids, First Aid and Even Whirl not talk about it later? Lastly Megatron an autobot, Star saber a religious zealot and Brainstorm a double agent? JAMES ROBERTS don't you stop! P.S POOR PIPES! STOP KILLING HIM ALREADY!
Just finished reading the latest issue, and I'm pretty speechless. I really enjoyed it, the reunion between Rewind and Chromedome warmed my heart. I was legitimately shocked at the revelation regarding Brainstorm, but as the subtitle goes, I think there's more to this than meets the eye. Looking forward to reading all the speculation from what we've learned.
Not sure how I feel about Rewind coming back for good. On one hand, I love the character, but on the other, I'm a little frustrated at Roberts' refusal to let major characters die. Rewind's death was really well handled and it was the only major character death in MTMTE's history thus far that wasn't quickly reversed. Kind of cheapens it a bit, in my opinion. It definitely takes a bit of the "Everyone can die" aspect out of the story now Rung, Red Alert, Ultra Magnus (twice), Tailgate, Rodimus and Rewind have all had been killed and brought back or had their death simply be a fake-out. Brainstorm's been a naughty, naughty boy apparently, but I'm willing to be he wasn't who let the DJD know of Overlord's presence. He was one of the few who's always known he was there, so why wouldn't he have done the same on the "real" Lost Light?
Was a decent issue. Maybe a bit less exciting than I was anticipating? Seeing how having to shut off the quantum engines was already the solution to their problems, I feel the whole 'planet is going to blow up, there might be people living there!' a bit strange..tacked on to add some false gravitas, since we, or even the crew, are not even sure. The thing is: letting the lost Light explode would not have brought our LL back. They would not have reversed the quantum effect, right? It would have exploded, shattering into a billion pieces, but that would not be the same as shutting the quantum engines down, safely. I think that alone would have been enough to add the weight that scene needed. It created another nice insight into Megatron, though, and that's always good. Happy to see he's not totally converted to being an Autobot. That would've been very unbelievable, but instead he's Megatron being Megatron - without the mass killing, but definitely a touch of 'survival of the fittest' and total apathy for non-Cybertronians. Did NOT see the traitor coming. Although this is MTMTE, I hope, and am sure, that there's more to this. On the character returning back to life..sort of...ok come on, this is a discussion thread. We know what's going on. Rewind. I'm...ok with it. The many, many death fakeouts have been my main issue with MTMTE for a long time, but now I realize: that's just not going to change. Sad that the most meaningful death has now sort of been reversed, but his return was touching (love that one page!) and he was a nice character...so, glad to have him back. I feel so conflicted! edit: I just had a thought. Details on the issue are a bit fuzzy now, so I'm not sure if they ever identify the source, but: in Spotlight Trailcutter, the entire crew gets mysteriously frozen in time. Could it be Brainstorm's suitcase that did this? Not sure if he actually wanted to bring Lockdown and crew on board, or if it was an accident. And...I'm sorry person (or multiple?) I forgot your name, but I saw somebody mention in a recent thread: what if the warning from the future from issue #1 was actually a list of good things to do? So far, if the coffin, Skids and Delphi thing have all happened (possible the Skids and Delphi ones have not) they've all lead to good things in the end. What if someone is deliberately trying to prevent the Lost Light from success, rather than warn them of future dangers? Just theory of course, it's very possible the things that are good now, will eventually lead to something bad.
Eh. There was a LOT of infodumping in this issue. A LOT. Even for MTMTE. Not a fan of the Rewind thing. Not at all. His death is now rendered pretty meaningless, and the Overlord "rampage" has even less oomph than it did before (when it was still kinda weak in the first place). Roberts needs to just let characters go sometimes. For a book that's constantly being talked about for BRINING THE TEARS FEELS OMG... death rarely, if ever, actually sticks and is usually reversed in the following issue(s). This is by far my biggest problem with Roberts' writing, and dramatically, it really takes the punch out of some of the things that happen in this comic. Seems like everything is just fixed now? I dunno, overall this issue was kinda anticlimactic. Enjoyed the last one far more. Aside from some brilliant lines from Ravage and the Brainstorm stuff... it was one of the weaker MTMTEs.
As much as I 'm sitting here sighing/eyerolling at Rewind being back, I've always known it was a certainty - Rewind (and the audience) never found out Chromedome's darkest secret that Prowl threatened him with in #14, so obviously he was going to be around for whenever that came out.
I think you might have just worked out a link! "It turned out to be Brainstorm's fault: how some Pulse Weapon he was working on accidentally went off and everyone was temporarily paralyzed." EDIT: Actually possibly not, when Trailcutter's walking through the ship, we literally see a frozen Brainstorm covering himself in fear in front of what I assume is a "Pulse Weapon."
