Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #2 (IDW, 2012) I heard Skids appeares on next issue. Considering the message from future, he seems to play dangerous role...
Yeah, that message from the future was pretty creepy. It really leaves a lot of questions, but Skids seems to be the bot the Lost Light crew should avoid.
Whirl, oh god; a whole shed filled with corpses only so he could mutilate them and get his rocks off. How did he get past Rungs mental assessment of potential Wreckers-to-be? Didn't they read Rungs psychological reports? And the discs Rewind acquired; Spoiler my first guess was that he'd bought porn Also, poor Rung; all his wonderful model-arks. They're not in MINT-condition anymore.
Roberts, whether it was Last Stand of the Wreckers or his two issues of the ongoing, is the one writer who's gotten me to come back to the Transformers comics since All Hail Megatron started. (Although I did enjoy some of the movie books.) Suffice to say I bought this issue with gusto yesterday, and will do so enthusiastically for (hopefully) some time to come, and ditto to Barber's book as well. As for Milne taking over, while I share McFeely's frustration, I have to wonder if Milne taking over is a result of close-minded fans, or more likely decisions made by all parties involved. Maybe Roche just doesn't want the pressure of doing a monthly, and will come back to do the odd issue. Or maybe he wants to work on other stories, other properties, other ideas. If it's not Roche's decision, than yeah, it's frustrating, but if it was up to Roche, then let's not begrudge him for it, shall we?
Yeah, I heard in a podcast Roberts was on that Roche "wanted to do some other stuff" (or something along those lines). I don't really mind, as I dig Milne's art too.
I just got this issue today. LOVED IT!!!! The whole flow of the story just seemed more natural here. was actually anticipating each page turn. Probably the understatement of the year here, but I see a big problem with Whirl (also Prowl). Tailgate not knowing it is a few million years later is gonna be funny, when he finally find out as well.
I just read. Loved it. I've read an issue here and there since dropping it at the end of Furman's run and have, in general, been apathetic to it. Transformers comics haven't been this good since the US Marvel run... I love having a mixed bag of characters instead of the usual '84-'85 bots with a few '86 ones tossed in for variety. This was awesome. I hope Bumblebee's book will be as good...
The part that really got my attention was the end when a message from the future was played out after Rodimus had already left. It reminded me of how this month's Action Comics ended but it was a spooky message, implying what revelations and horrors Rodmius' crew will face in their journey.
Am I the only one that's surprised by how much focus Whirl is getting? I never really heard of him until Chaos Theory part 1 about a year back but he's growing to be quite an influential bot. It seems rather odd since I don't think he had nearly as much importance in the original G1 comics and show. The book was great. Not much more I can say since everything has been said already.
Read through this thread. The story is spectacular. Also Milne has gotten A LOT better since his early stuff. His two issues of Chaos Theory were (if not Roche level) really very good. -ZacWilliam, check out his Chaos Theory issues at least and see what you think. I'm sorry to lose Roche too but that's no reason to miss how awesome this book is shaping up to be.
I think there is something funky going on time travel wise. Aside from the ominus message from the future. Somehow, it took Tailgate 6 million years to crawl a few feet? Also, in Death Of Prime, Optimus isn't sure at first if he's in the past or the future. At least for a little bit
Just finished reading the issue. Wow! That was a great read. So much stuff going on! It's definitely very different from a lot of comics out there. Thank God Roberts doesn't write decompressed like so many writers out there from Marvel and DC. Love the characterization and setup they've done. I like that little bit they did there, with the message from the future, I guess a bit of a nod to the "Coming soon" bits Geoff Johns did for several of the titles he wrote for DC, particularly Booster Gold and JSA. It's a good time to be a Transformers comic fan! Great job by Roberts and Roche, definitely going to get the collection for this.
The story implied that Tailgate kept losing consciousness, and since he had no way of tracking time, it probably didn't occur to him each time he blacked out was such a long period of time. That little bit from DoOP was explained away pretty quickly, I thought it was just a funny bit they decided to toss in. Regarding the message from the future, I'm guessing Rewind recorded it. Anyway, just had a thought, wouldn't it be a great nod to Beast Wars if they didn't land in the future, but instead landed in the past? Would definitely explain how they could send a message back. Also, just like Beast Wars, the message they sent, given the distance, would take great time to finally arrive on Cybertron.
Trade Paperback Which is the term they normally use to refer to softcover collections of stories of a particular creator run, event or title.
WOW. just... WOW. The story was amazing, and I gotta say - Roche may just be my favorite Transformer artist. ANd of course, i love Josh's coloring.
