I like the proportions on the V3 better than on this MS version, but the mode, so far, looks a lot cleaner on the MS version. Both have their up and down sides for me :)

looks better being less bulky :D  that head sculpt needs a little work , the grill in robot mode needs to come out a little further and he needs a bigger cod piece but still like what i'm seeing :D

with it next to mp10 how can anyone say its a redo of mp10 looks nothing like it apart from it being optimus :)

"edit" also don't like the look of the bottom of the smoke stacks

they seem to have given it better thigh articulation ie lower so don't think that will be a problem for some poses :)

You know, you're right? May not even be an issue. I mean MP-10 doesn't even have hip flap skirts.
The thigh joints look to be low enough and exposed enough it may not need much hip flap movement to pose.

Kind of feels like V3 Prime is a toon accurate Optimus, while this is toon influenced MP-10 styling. Has that bulky feel of MP-10 but with nice sleek toon influences.
    I defintely dig this!!

the thing i prefer on takara's are the arms and biceps which are accurate to the cartoon model , just see some really odd design choices for the rest of it , might look better when we get clearer and coloured pictures ... those feet look like crap

...not painted yet, so it's difficult to assess the difference the finished figures may convey, but from what we've seen so far magic square looks much cleaner to my eyes, albeit likely less articulation...it'll be an interesting battle to watch play out, for sure...

nice, v3 looks pretty good to me, but the wait for a none trailer version that is sort of affordable if purchased at amazon japan best pricing will be sooo long... Maybe i should wait for a red bape or a white version while i am at it?

As for MS, all i care right now is the price from Baba and Show Z... Maybe indeed, the hip skirt doesnt really even need movement afterall as a member suggested here.

They both look great to me personally.

Understandable, it looks like that is where they are hiding all the parts from the front of the cab in truck mode as the the truck and bot clearly have different chest windows and grills.

I am in the same boat at the moment, unless color pictures change my mind. The vehicle mode on 3.0 looks terrible in my opinion.

I think both modes look kind of bad with all of those seperation points everywhere. Additionally bot mode looks like it's missing some abdomen. It'll probably look much better in color and when its finished and in other poses, but for now its nothing I'm excited about.

I also want to note that I'm not intending to sound adversarial. I buy almost every Optimus Prime toy so its never really a 'who's going to win?' thing for me since they all end up in my collection eventually.

My biggest problem with the Takara 3.0 Prime is that it appears to make use of both a fake grill AND a fake set of windows in robot mode. That is very disappointing if true. The Magic Square one, however, appears to use both the truck mode grill AND windows in robot mode, flipping the grill upside-down. For a toy that basically turns into a cube with wheels, having fake truck parts in robot mode at that price and complexity point feels lazy; regardless how show-accurate it might be.
