Can someone give a rundown of the issues with this figure, and possible fixes? I've gotten quite tired of waiting for an improved KO and want to know how problematic this figure could be in hand/how to potentially fix it. From what I remember: - Hood halves in vehicle mode don't tab in properly - possibly fixed by shaving the tabs down - Hood halves aren't secure in robot mode - possibly fixed by stiffening the joints or some kind of transformation trick? - Roof halves aren't secure in one mode or another?
From what I’ve seen, your more or less nailed it. I know a couple people have complained about the transformation in general but Emgo does a pretty good job of showing how it works. The hood not tabbing doesn’t seem like a universal issue. And it’s robot mode the panels don’t tab into (behind the wrists) but there was one video (in Japanese) that showed some sort of fix but I’m not certain how it was supposed to work. My replacement figure comes tomorrow (God I love Amazon Prime) so hopefully he won’t be missing his canons and I can get into the figure proper.
New figure arrived. Had canons! I can get why some don’t like placement of arms but I’m mostly fine with it. All the joints are stiff and the shoulder pads don’t subcome to gravity. I honestly think the biggest issue is how tight that first shoulder joint is. I wonder if loosening the screw will help? I imagine too loose will lose support but perhaps a sweet spot. But eh, I can hold the pad in place while I move the arm. Transformation is not as bad as some made it out. The hood is really tight and needed a little massaging but I got this transformed faster than MPM-7. I’d honestly give this a B. Not bad but a few minor missteps keeps it from being a solid A.
You could try using floor polish on the shoulders, I'm planned to do the same to my ko copy when it arrives.
This thing is a nightmare. *Deep Breath* Goes back to attempting to transform him without watching videos.
Ok. Got it now. I feel like I’m putting a model kit together without glue. I’m really confused how this shipped in this state. I mean if the robot mode was glorious, I could see the sacrifice to the transformation. But these arms... they do nothing. If he wasn’t the right size, I think I’d go back to Leader Ironhide.
Definitely the instructions suck. Watch the Emgo JTI. Like I said above, got it transformed pretty quickly the first time with that as a resource. The hoods are TIGHT. As I've posed him more, I've been definitely finding him harder to get into poses. I haven't had a chance to try any mods to tighten or loosen joints so I don't know yet if that'll help yet. But I got him into a decent pose and left him on my shelf. SIDE NOTE: One of the window hinges on my MPM-4 broke (damned clear plastic) but not entirely. The bottom part is still whole and enough of the top part is there that I was able to slide it back on and it functions more or less as usual. But now I'm worried about it breaking entirely and I'm looking at that KO Prime (LR-2 I think) with a sense of "You know what, maybe".
I just ordered one from Amazon JP to Florida for under $60! Hurry up and snag one if you haven't already done so.
You gotdamn right i got one! I almost jumped when i saw the price drop AND it can finally ships to the US!!!!! Waiting truly pays off!!!
Man. This thing is hard to love. I have some questions as a late purchaser. I went through most of this thread and didn’t see answers to these observations. 1. Wrist tabs - I can only get these to work by halfway transforming the forearm panels. If they’re 1/10 the way from all the way set on that hinge, the the wrist tabs catch really great. The problem with this is that I can’t imagine that those little guys are going to last long. It’s clearly not intended. 2. Shoulders - The thick tabs at the bottom are meant to stick in, but that’s it. Is it consensus that the shoulders are not meant to lock in at all? This is all Shoulder articulation, for better or worse. With some polish in the hinges and the swivel joints, the joints act pretty great as shoulder articulation.
Just a few days ago I tried to get one and it wouldn't ship to the U.S., with a another price drop, fucking sold! So it definitely pays off to wait on AJP for the MPM line, but the G1 MPs on the other hand get preordered ASAP from them.
Well y’all I guess I spoke too soon, becuase that 3D piece has been installed for about a month or two, and it warped to the point where the connection isn’t even tight anymore. So when I move the arms, the chest pieces flop just like before. So I guess I wasted $14...
Where exactly did you apply the polish? I think you’re right that they are meant to be part of the shoulder joint.
