Looks like Capcomkai is selling DOTM Ironhide guns that are designed for the studio series voyager. Maybe somebody can ask him to upsize them for the MPM. And design appropriate back holsters.
As a side note, I always thought that they should have put tab slots on the hip flaps for MP G1 Ironhide so that you could attach gun to mimic holsters
Got mine today. Largely ok for the most part. I didn't get everything lined up perfect in truck mode but its visually satisfactory. The panel and tab system of engineering is my least favorite design choice on any TF figure.
Also no instructions in the box, and the GMC split grill was installed wrong. Don't know if its worth trying to fix.
The grill pieces just pop out. Easy fix.
Anyone able to translate what he said?
That video was posted a while ago by someone else. I thought people said it was generally just clickbait and nothing new was found or said
No idea if and where he's selling them.
Capcom Kai on Instagram: “A little Mexican standoff we hot here! Timheada 3D print guns for mpm Ironhide.”
@eltonlin98 posted a rough translation when the video was first posted a week or so ago (see below)
If they’re printing 3D parts now they might as well make a new locking mechanism for the chest...just sayin
I wish Kevin didn't thumbnail his video as Fixed, but rather more of Fixed???
Everyone's mileage is gonna vary, the solution he offered is not a be-all-end-all fix. Even he acknowledges this in the video
I want them.... YESTERDAY.
STRONGLY AGREE! I often buy a figure knowing what I have to fix. It seems so ridiculous! "Ok, so I'll buy CW bruticus. So, I need new leg ratchets from Nonnef, Ill havev to unscrew and tighted the arm and knee joints, brawl will not tab together at all, so ill fix that, Ill have to put super glue in the hand ports, cause those just fall off, and drill out feet ports so they fit. Then Ill have a figure that kindof works." Why arent these figures designed correctly to begin with??!!??!!
SORRY FOR THE OFF TOPIC REPLY
They're made for the MPM. He's posted pics of them before. Is there any way to get tim's design's part from anyone else? Capcomkai doesn't live in America, so the shipping for the stuff he sells is insanely high. Like $30 or $40. Plus the price of the item, plus shipping from wherever Capcomkai lives.
Yeah it'd be great to get a full upgrade kit for him, with several weapons and maybe a clip or something for the arm panels.
Sometimes they're designed poorly, and sometimes they're manufactured poorly. There's a lot that can go wrong with a product this complex. I'm not saying that as an excuse, I'm more just acknowledging that it might not be the designer's fault.
I just got an email yesterday saying my Ironhide is ready for pick up. I may not be expecting any Toys this Christmas. But I might as well enjoy getting ironhide maybe tomorrow.
I just got this as a Christmas present for myself, and I’m absolutely blown away!!!
.......by the fact that it’s more frustrating to transform than ROTF Leader Optimus Prime and first-release defective MPM Prime at the same time while blindfolded in a pit of herpes-infected spikes with fire ants crawling all over my nutsack.
Props to Hastak on this - it’s been such a long time since I’ve had the urge to smash a toy against the wall in frustration I’d almost forgotten what it feels like, but hello old friend.
It’s like they took the dude in the design team responsible for overly complex and fiddly transformations and locked him away in a dark box for the last 5 years, then let him out, half-crazed and covered in his own feces, gave him the Ironhide prototype and said “have at it champ!”, before locking him screaming back in his box until the next MPM release.
Of course the instructions that look like they were photocopied multiple times on a Xerox from the 80’s are of no help either.
I guess I’ll have to wait for the improved WeiJiang version now.
The colorful imagery here.
Goddamn man this post gave me a good laugh. Props to you. Sad to hear that the copy of your figure wasn't that great
Hey guys, if someone was keen to get an Ironhide and it didn't matter which line, is the Studio Series the better buy right now?
If you don’t mind extremely fiddly figures (both transformation and posing wise), the MPM is visibly much better than the SS on every level, and the articulation is much better. The SS holds together much better and has a less problematic learning curve to the transformation/posing and looks far better than any mainline Ironhide so far, but it is the visually inferior version. It really just depends on if you dislike or are even neutral to fiddly figures, because the MPM is very likely to cause frustration to you if that’s the case.
