You’ve seen one review
Wow that chest is butt. Can't believe they couldn't get it to tab in better and the arm placement sucks too. It looks wonderful in every other way, however.
Pictorial short review
Blacklai's toybase: MPM-6 Ironhide 電影傑作鐵皮分享
Looks about on par with the other mpms in terms of QC tbth.
Hopefully it’s going to be an easy fix to get the shoulders to stay in place.
EDIT: reading further reviews the chest does lock in and stay, however moving the arms forward in any way will unlock them.
Damn, that was all?.
He literally cannot pose because all the chest would be undone, now that's definitely a HUGE flaw design.
This unfortunely propably has the same problems as the initial prototype.
If neither Hasbro or Takara fixed this problem from all the delay and months of absolute silence, what they made it to delay it in the first place?. Was their midly designed MPM07 was more important to release first?.
This, gives me hopes Hasbro can stay the heck out of this line forever.
....And?, what impression will give the 2nd one?.
Thiswill be the MPM Prime thread all over again, every review was brought with the same issue, then, some people said "is just 3 reviews" "those are just some TFW users", etc.
As much as hated the new MP Prime can be, Takara put all the love and care they could.
Look, even if it's 200$ or 300$ less of cost, even a 140$ product should be done with care.
I can't believe the Studio Series Ironhide (released months ago) is a lot better and cheaper than this mess.
Little worried by the tabbing issues and arms placements... and a part of me is kinda bummed that they made him so small! He's just about in scale with Prime in truck mode but in robot mode he's WAY too small to scale with anyone. From the looks of it he wouldn't even look right standing next to the 07 voyager Ratchet
Those wiggly noodle out of the box smokestacks are offensive. The sad pecs need reinforcement. He's also the first MPM that doesn't have his license plate. The gray bits will be painted flat black. He scales well with Prime in both modes. The OS KO will hopefully address the issues and matchup with the Black Apple Prime.
He's tall enough... But not "big" enough
It's really fricking sad that this is the proper way to go.
Well this just sucks.
What is with this QC myth that keeps perpetuating? Prime is the only one so far with widespread QC problems.
Jazz: "hey Ironhide, wanna hear a joke?"
Ironhide: "yeah, what is it?"
Jazz: "Takara MP quality."
Ironhide: "I don't get it"
Jazz: "*I know you don't, but I do "
Ironhide: " "
As someone from this site once said...
"Sigh... This fucking fandom..."
Shame about the tabbing issue, but other than that, he looks amazing. I won't lie, the tabbing has affected my interest slightly (Hell I still own and love the official MPM Optimus Prime, despite it's flaws and owning LT-02).
EDIT: Thinking about it, future floor polish might help with the tabbing issues.
Outside of the usual things like variance in ratchet and joint tolerance and paint application between figures:
Widespread indivual issues would include:
2018 bee: shoulder locking issues/general issues with the whole upper assembly in robot mode staying tabbed togther once formed. The tolerances of the pins and rivets that hold everything togther are not consistent enough to ensure the design of the toy functions correctly in this area. This is exacerbated further due to warping on wheel and door connection parts due to the way they have decided to package the toy with plastic ties in those areas.
Prime: just doesn’t work. tolerances are off on a number of parts resulting in the front of the alt mode not being able to form correctly. This goes beyond a simple QC issue, this is a fundamental issue with the mold.
Mpm 07 bee: hood parts flaring upwards due to manufacturing over tightening/stripping screws on hood parts. Ankle tolerance not being consistent enough between units to allow the figure to stand from one unit to another.
Apparently there are a number of mpm7s that can’t roll in alt mode
He scales really well with the rest of the MPMs. Hopefully, the tabbing issues are an initial batch thing. I'm still very much interested in this guy as I was before.
Man. This character is cursed. 10 years, and it appears as though we will never get an in-scale version of Ironhide with shoulders that work.
The problem with the pecs/shoulders can be solved easily by using some of the backpack (the rear window) to tab into the back of the hood halves. Or even having it tab into the base of his neck. I think the Studio Series version does that.
Separate names with a comma.
