I probably would do that actually. but he broke in a few places where I'd be looking to replace the entire figure at this point.

Technically, a MPM Scorponok should be the size of a carbot. Think around the size of the original '07 Deluxe Scorponok, if not bigger. So Blackout should be much larger to keep his pet... at least that's how I see it.

The amazing cinematography of 07 has fooled a generation into thinking blackout is gigantic

Based on the pic above, it looks like he would also scale well with DLX Prime and the oversized kos... DLX Prime is just as tall as MPM Megatron and Brawl should come under its head... I hope to see some comparisons soon, as it was for bonecrusher

And the fact that they definitely upscaled Blackout in a couple shots in the opening scene.

OTOH, if scorponok is that big, and he fits inside blackout’s vehicle mode, you could then say that blackout’s robot mode is smaller since all the space inside the vehicle mode would be taken up by a larger scorponok, which would indicate that blackout scales down a lot in robot mode due to the alt mode being hollow/taken up by scorponok. Wouldn’t explain how he’s stored in robot mode but then again the film doesn’t even show this, he just kinda explodes out of his back when the rotors move out of the way.

Scale is an illusion. That's why I don't take it as gospel.

He looks not that much bigger when you compare it to Optimus holding Sam and Mikaela in the chase scene. He straight up looks gigantic.

Scale was never consistent in the films anyway, ILM always changed it for dramatic effect.

I get that scale was played around with a lot, but Blackout has the largest alt mode and yet he still looks so shrimpy lol doesn’t feel right.

That would explain why grindor so massive since he has no scorponok to shrink him down.

What's worse is that theorically he should be just a tad shorter than Grindor in robot mode.

They look great! But for those that mention scale, the person who took the pic has most figure's standing straight up with knees almost locked. If you pose the figures with a more natural stance (i.e. relaxed knees, hunched over depending on what the character feels like it needs to be), then some figures shrink and others grow taller. Like Bonecrusher is huge but his character design lends itself to be more hunched over with knees bent, so he actually shrinks vs Blackout has a more proud design and lends himself to stand up more straight.

Alt mode is mostly hollow. Not a new concept.
It’s why I get annoyed when people freak out over scale from a photo. Posing, lighting, mistransformations, perspective, they can all change the “size” which is even different from “height” which is different from “head height” anyways. It’s all so silly to be so precise about.

That’s just cope. Since when has hollowness mattered? Cars are mostly hollow too. There is no way half of these characters would actually be the size they are if they took that into account.

Yeah I kinda have to agree with that bit, the outside size of the vehicle is pretty much the only thing they factor into scaling the robots. Otherwise how hollow it is has never really mattered.

I mean heck from ROTB especially we have stratosphere as a massive giant despite him being a plane, which is literally a hollow tube.
