I have all but three MPMs: Bonecrusher, Megatron and Doritoscream.

I will be getting this dude though.
Hopefully they're now done with the 2007 movie and are moving on to ROTF.

I'd be fascinated to hear the reasoning on this from the original designers.

I'm selective about mine as well and most of my figures are KOs. I have several "MP/MPM quality" figures too. lol.

Definitely. It's very refreshing to see someone on the TF team acknowledge fandom reception and have a desire to clarify things.

OH NAH HE'S WATCHING US IN THE THREADS

Jokes aside, we're blessed an actual designer keeps tabs of our opinions and discusses controversies like this, however big or small

Honestly one of the better things about the internet is how it makes things like this more accessible to the general public/fan base with basically instant feedback. I mean, people could mail letters and such to companies or people in the public eye, but rarely, if ever got any kind of actual feedback, especially direct. With the internet, there are thousands of examples of people of note and fame answering the general public or individuals and not only acknowledging what is said, but giving feedback. It's pretty cool.

At first I was like “oh he probably just saw discussion about the hole in other places”

And then he immediately went on to address articulation, specifically starting with the wrists. Like bruh, that was a large part of the discussion here.

Haven't they confirmed they often read feedback on this site? But they never say if they are lurking or if they have an account... 2x9gdp.png

    Seconded.

ROTF would be a good opportunity to do a new Optimus.

We could most certainly use an upgraded Optimus Prime or Ironhide (DOTM spec for both would satisfy me).

I think I'm in the minority here, but then I think of fellas like @erwinsims who share the sentiment: I'd really appreciate a MPM-11R type release, basically it's Ratchet in the colors he had in TF07/ROTF but with bigger and more accurately positioned emergency stripes. I think that figure's engineering came out great but the deco has me wanting more accuracy

Sam Smith - Hasbro Design ⚓️ on Instagram: "MPM-15 Movie Masterpiece TF1 Decepticon Brawl “Devastator Reporting…” It was bitter sweet bringing the main theatrical characters to a close for Movie 1. Having had the opportunity to work on the last 3 masterpiece Deceptions was an absolute blast. These projects represent best in class partnerships, not only with our partners at Takara Toy, but also with our studio and licensing partners, whose collaboration has been invaluable. The unwavering support from our fan community is genuinely heartening, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help bring this cast to its conclusion. Now, with that accomplished, let’s delve into some of the behind the scenes for MPM Brawl!” Project “Hoover” started years ago, and was thankfully tabled to make way for Blackout’s MPM release. This gave us a good head start on gathering some great historical reference for the character including on-site photography of the hero tank prepping for transit to the set from the builder. The tank was so wide on the trailer, that the armored side pods needed to be removed, but it provided the perfect reference guide for generating the camouflage patterns. The camo artwork is matched to the hero vehicle, and the colors are spec’d off of the screen used paint codes (See the vehicle section for mode details) We kicked this project off with Shu Umezu who you would have thought was a Masterpiece veteran, but this was actually the first MPM figure that we’ve worked on together. Shu has been killing it on Studio Series the past few years, and I had a blast collaborating with him on bringing Brawl to life. I had some pretty high expectations for this figure from the start and Shu found a way to accommodate all of them. While the ILM CAD was incredibly detailed for 2006, there was still a number of details that were only covered on a surface level vs being sculpted into the model. To account for this we scrubbed through hundreds of photos and unpacked flat files from the CAD artwork to ensure that we captured all the vents, grills, bolts and asymmetrical detail to help to set it apart from Brawl figures of the past."

On top of Sam confirming it, we can see the wrist being a seperate piece from this layout.

Interestingly this also seems to show that his face is seperate from the forehead and upper lip which is surprising. Thought it would all just be one solid piece.

Funnily enough, both things you mentioned, careful Octo you are officially on his radar lmaoo

    PLEASE

Speaking of which, I know he worked on Bonecrusher, and I am assuming brawl. Wanted to ask if it will be his teams doing MPMs from now on and when this started. I believe he did Blackout too?

I do hope they do make a new MPM Optimus, although the BA Prime is one of my favorites, but with his abdomen size, somewhat thick backpack, and lackluster/small head, there are certainly improvements that can be made with a new mold. We've seen black magic done before, and now even with many MPMs. I don't think UT or any other company intends to do it any time soon, and the Masterpiece line is no stranger to doing 2.0s or 3.0s, so the MPM line is where my hopes are. Now that they have the ILM files and seem to seriously consider feedback, a new trilogy prime mold would be awesome!

Aside from the articulation and softish plastic, BA Ironhide is basically perfect for me personally

Funny enough, because of the added bulk of the MPM, I actually kinda like the design of the MPM better than the actual CGI model! The MPM is super accurate but thickness of the shoulders, arms, and backpack just make him look more heavy, more like a "tank" lol. Although the backpack is a bit big compared to the CGI mode, it's not something that bothers me

Bonecrusher definitely still feels a bit oversized to me based on Sam’s charts, but Brawl himself looks perfect. Excited to complete the team later this year.

(PS. Sam please give us Frenzy)

The fact that Sam was able to match the deco down to the actual paint colors is insane. I think I'm gonna pick this up just to reward that level of effort lol. I love these BTS posts.
