Quite frankly the whole MPM line could do with more repaints

It's honestly quite baffling why Hasbro are doing more repaints at all. Don't you want to help recoup some of your costs!?!?

Should we place bets on whether they move on to the other movies with original molds after the 2007 cast is done?

The main problem is if Hasbro does them, they replace a new MPM figure. We are at only 1 a year partially because the past ones would clearance out, and Target has essentially set a limit of one $165 figure a year. There’s only so much expensive figures in store casuals can buy within a year.

That’s probably why Takara started doing them through themselves. Of course with the downside that they can charge whatever they want now for repaints as a result, so those start becoming fairly expensive going off ratchet’s repaint.

Someone did, It was me. We then had a fun back and forth about the stunt vehicle vs the actual movie and tank model and whether or not an exposed hole was there. Turns out they edited the hole closed in the movie, so yeah that head being visible is weird.

Having Brawl will be amazing. It’ll be awesome having the entire ’07 movie cast as Masterpieces! I’d love for him to include a little Frenzy just to make the cast truly complete… but I also want them to make a “clunker” Bumblebee, and Frenzy would probably make more sense packed with that.

I'd have to imagine there will be a panel or something these to cover it. I know this line has so odd things but that feels just such a oversight if it was that.

i dont get the problem, is not like the top of his head looks like anything in particular, i mean if it was a face, an EAR, a pair of eyes staring ad you, but given the bay designs...is literally a block with details on top, it could be ANYTHING and it wouldnt really matter... is not even round, we know its a head but it doesnt look like one

If there is no cover at least there is detailing there and not the top of a head that you can tell is a head.

It’s pretty easy to cover up as well, so hopefully a flap will exist. Heck the OSKO of the leader class figure added a simple flap that covered it.

Because it’s an obvious gap in a tank with an obvious head in it. It’s also rather lazy to not cover it up on a $165 masterpiece. When it’s insanely easy to fix, and the movie and real life tanks have hatches that stay closed, you should be adding it.

I think everyone did…back in 2007. It’s now just a design mainstay for movie Brawl toys.

They'll probably just stick to the guys guaranteed to sell, so no Devcons or Dreadbots. I also assume they're done with BB since this year makes six since it's been out, and skip to RoTB, since that's the hot iron.
Bit off topic, but is 165 the cap price? I think he'll be a bit less, he's not as bulky as Bonecrusher and Blackout.

$165 is just the maximum MPM’s go, seems like Target won’t let them go higher. The last 2 have been that price, so it’s likely the price they will stay at. Only the autobots have been less, so that’s why I just automatically go with that price.

I shed a tear every time I see those toy shelves in Asian regions.
I remember the old days when Transformers would take up a whole section at a toy store and you didn't have to go to 3-5 stores just to get everyone you wanted to get.

I’m sure they will though I think they will pick and choose more. No more completing casts.

I would expect $165 as well, although I imagine that will give Brawl a bit of breathing room in the budget since he's not super large like Blackout and is more straightforward a design than Bonecrusher. Might be a pipe dream, but maybe this is the place to include Frenzy!

Yeah, it would be cool to see MPMs from other movies but I do not think completing any individual movie's cast (except maybe the Earth-based robots in BBM) is reasonable or expected. It would be nice to see them do case-by-case fan-favorite designs / characters from across the films, like Sideswipe, Sentinel Prime, Optimus Primal, etc.

I know we all moan about re doing characters, but after the 07 guys are done, I really would like them to take another crack at Prime. Even without the QC issues I think he leaves abit to be desired especially compared to the ones that came after him. Maybe a DOTM version could be a new mold, and an easy re tool into an 07/ROTF version.

I'm gonna cry is Takara gives us MPM Deep Desert Brawl before Studio Series does...
