Bee Prime easily looks better than Bay Prime. Modernization is good, but not to the extent of some characters that just look like indistinct masses of swirling metal,
When they do the Bumblebee movie bots, the Cybertron scene bots will be "G1-ified" because that's the design Knight used. I will never understand those who constantly bash G1. You do you, booboo.
That is their appeal, exposed mechanism and warped metal pieces, if you enjoy G1 blockiness then the Knight's bots are for you.
Well for all intents and purposes Bay’s continuity doesn’t exist anymore. Those films are finished, so toy lines aren’t going to follow them anymore.
I mean it still exists, it just isn't ongoing. And Studio Series and MPM are going along just fine doing Bay stuff even if it doesn't do just Bay anymore.
See the hilarious thing is the people who bash the Bee designs don’t even understand what “geewunning” means. In their eyes, “geewunning” just means making characters not have the Bayformer aesthetic. If you look at images of Bee movie Bumblebee, Blitzwing, Starscream, and even Optimus, they’re not direct-to-live-action copies of the cartoon designs. They’re fairly modern in their proportions and colors and even borrow some elements of the Bay exposed-machinery aesthetic.
I’m well aware. What I’m saying is that the general larger-scale stream of new figures likely won’t be Bay movie oriented.
But they're still heavily influenced by the original designs, Bumblebee and Blitzwing not withstanding. Shockwave, Soundwave, Arcee, Wheeljack, all of them are clearly G1 with a greebly filter compared to actual new designs like the initial Bay lineup
Me right now just wanting to discuss our favorite Helicopter Boi and not breakout into "Bay vs. Knight/G1" Argument #2493:
That is a *massive* overstatement. The characters in that movie aren’t going around looking this on screen with some rougher texturing. Just an FYI, I’m not a Bayformer hater. Some of the designs from those movies look quite nice, i.e. Drift, Bumblebee, Megatron (TLK) and even Blackout. All I’m saying is that the Bee movie designs are not so much the product of 80s animation-obsessed, old head pandering as some people would like to think.
is really sad to see that if you want new figures from an old continuity, they're going to be sunbow-ized no matter what, that is the only way, BW had a special pass for being G1 continuity I guess, imagine if Kingdom figures were Maximals and Predacons but they turn into cars and trucks with blocky robot modes and the only sad resemblance of their real counterparts was their heads and colors, that's the kind of insult that hasbro did with TFPrime in Legacy
I have a lot I could say about g1 being everywhere and the Knight/Bay stuff, but its gone on too long. I will, on the other hand, shamelessly plug the two videos I've done in the spoiler boxes below relating to these subjects if anyone is interested. Spoiler Spoiler I'm real excited for the reveal though! I sleep in late so I'll see it well after its revealed but it'll be the first thing I look up for sure. I'll be messing with my WJ Hide Shadow in anticipation!
