Well they're three years late to the market as there are way better options available for an MPM styled BB OP.

That’s possible but honestly if they wanted to beat the 3p options they should’ve just announced it early on but took the time to get it right. More people would be onboard compared to now I would think.

I think this is just a case of a bad designer. Well, more accurately a good designer who was chosen for something he clearly can't do.

i think the main issue is budget, i feel like there's no excuse for the alt mode other than they wanted to keep part count at a certain level to keep the 100ish price tag

Well, whatever the problem was, at least the next film is coming soon. Perhaps we'll get another go at an MPM with a similar design next year?

it would be funny if the ss of the next prime reworks ss-38's transformation to fit the actual cad model ultimately making the mpm pointless

I actually wouldn't mind if they reworked the Cybertronian designs a bit more (it would be cool if they took some inspiration from the High Moon games) and gave us MPMs of those. It'd never happen, of course, but it'd be great.

I really hope they keep this Optimus Prime design for the next movie. I'd be fine if they changed the truck form, just keep the robot mode the same.

I'm sure they'll be reworking those Cybertron models. Besides Prime and the Seeker designs (which are just a modified Blitzwing), every other design was rushed. I can only see them improving those further.

He is based off the current ILM assets, all of the detail from the CG model it's here. Regardless, they still could have made a better figure even without the assets, i'd agree that it's an issue involving the designer.

So they got the ridiculously short thighs from the CG model?

The robot mode is fine but the truck mode is terrible. I can't accept it at all

If you're using the pictures Music posted as comparison, the figure's legs are at an angle. I think that's why they look so short. I don't know if there are images of it in a neutral pose though. I'll double check to see how the thighs compare in neutral.

Maybe it's the arms that are just too long? Even straight legged he looks a bit off.

I used Music's pics and they look fine. The fingers in the CGI model reaches his knees.

The pic you used definitely looks off and very unflattering. I don't doubt there are proportional issues with the figure. I just can't figure out what.

As much as we'd love to see that... HasTak will ALWAYS try to capitalize off of the early hype by having toy designers make something to hit the shelves at the same time as the film in most circumstances to make bank off people who have their appetites whet for a figure of a character they enjoyed in the movie, and to be able to work with something, they essentially are just given concepts that as a result don't go one-to-one with final designs.

Things like Jet Shatter, Car Dropkick and most SS Bumblebee Figures post-SS VW Bee are situations where the design team had gotten more than enough time since those figures came years after the movie's run was done knowing they needed to adhere to accuracy then since they had no excuse compared to Car Shatter, Helicopter Dropkick, SS-38 Prime and the VW Beetle Bee.

The best we can hope for is that the first figures in the line are as close to the final design as they can be without too many excess deviations.
