Or, hear me out... maybe the designers were just being lazy.

The deco was probably handled differently by another designer.
Anyway, there's nothing new in the Generations book?

True, but this version really looks a challenge for those companies. None of them could make the truck of the movie (not even Hasbro), all of them used the AOE one, and when the cabin was fine the backpart was just conected legs. Toyworld had movie accuracy but the transformation, playability and truck sucked
But damn, people could make Aoe Optimus, Galvatron, tlk Megatron, Lockdown great and some other BBM movie figures were pratically transformable 3A. While it People can't make a Prime accurate in both modes

It looks like they forgot that when they made Starscream alt mode with that ugly kibble lol

MPM-10 Starscream has an incredibly strong bot mode though, and has an alt mode that is at least accurate to the model of the onscreen jet. The figure does enough right, to the point where you can overlook some of its minor issues.

On the other hand, MPM-12 Prime is absolutely plagued with inaccuracies and problems in both modes.

I really hoped those cat ears folded down and hid away. Damn, I guess I’ll wait for a sale on this thing when it comes out, and hope a 3rd party makes replacement parts that fold. I’m normally on Hasbro’s side, but this is a dumb-ass move to not fix this. I am extremely disappointed.

You know, there probably is a lot of proportional issues with this guy. But those pictures are also very unflattering. I think with some proper posing/camerawork he'll look much closer to the CGI model.

I don't understand the terrible legs in vehicle mode. it's like they just gave up because they either couldn't be bothered or couldn't figure it out.

Which is baffling to me because the SS Voyager class figure NAILED the leg transformation. i know its a different truck mode, but god that figure should have just been used as the starting point for this.

It's interesting to see he's got a Matrix. Kinda boring design, though. It's just exactly the G1 design but with wider handles.

I told you all it\'s gonna have a matrix, and there will be a more accurate version of him that will also include a matrix.

I think I'll buy this solely because this is one of the only Prime figures that can actually hold the Matrix properly.

Vehicle mode is disappointing..they really couldn't make a hinge to prevent them from sticking up like that? Perhaps there's a way to detach it and a third party could make one that can fold down. Need a wider head too.

Just seems like this MPM was rushed like MPM 7 Bumblebee was. Such a good Optimus Prime design too..:(

All movie figures will suffer the consequences of being adapted from movie design to toy design instead of the other way around. But in every other respect this is the movie Optimus Prime I always pictured pre-2007; the unmistakable silhouette, the boxy alt mode, the matrix, the essence of the character distilled into toy form. If I could show my 8 year-old self this figure and ask him who it was, he\'d dentify it as Optimus Prime straight away. Show him any of the Optimus figures from Transformers 1-5 and... well, he\'d probably get there eventually.

To me this looks like a brilliantly detailed representation of Optimus Prime as he appeared in the Bumblebee movie, which imo was the best big screen version of him we\'ve ever seen. I\'m sure I could find fault with it, but I\'m so damn starved of new toys at the moment (I\'m still unemployed due to the global panini) that I\'m just glad this thing exists.

If you buy this thing and subsequently believe it to be an abomination - as is your absolute right - I will gladly take it off your hands. I won\'t even charge for removal.

I can't remember where the Hasbro release was made available? Did it go up anywhere?

Truck mode aside, the robot mode is still really bad. The blocks on the shoulders don't rotate outwards. The thighs are too short. The shins are too long. The hands are...I guess floating above a forearm void.

The silhouette doesn't pass the glance test. It's just off.

If the truck is that bad, the robot has to be perfect.
And the truck should never be that bad.

As much as I love 3P, I will definitely be getting MPM12 over its future KO(4P) variant. I really appreciate the bright reds and blues on it, is what sells it for me. I got really sick of the "dried blood red" on some Primes.

Jeez they really just didn't even bother trying to hide his legs in truck mode did they?

Not bad but could use a little work on the legs. Also...I cannot unsee:

Heck, WJ’s factory was raided; Hasbro would have been better off using theirs.
