Well, I'm pretty disappointed, frankly. I was really hoping for anther Decepticon from '07. Guess the good news is I'll be able to put my MPM reserved money towards NA Mista. Hope you all enjoy this at least.
that's the latest I heard from; but it's almost 3 months now. Meaning most of what I heard at the time already went (or planned) for factory submissions. haven't heard anything new for 2021. So right now, who knows. Maybe if this one went well they'll go all out with Bee movie mpms
I know most people are mad it it’s another Optimus. I feel really bad for them. However, this is my all time favorite Optimus design. Just can’t help myself besides being extremely hyped for this guy
BBB Optimus Prime is definitely not just “another OP”. Its design is elegant and beautiful, a perfect combination of G1 spirit and modern movie style.
No it very much is just another G1 Optimus. Sure it has Bay styled greebles but like.. c'mon man, it isn't like its homaging any other design or unique enough to stand on it's own.
Not really? They're pretty different enough to stand on their own. Like, I don't think anyone in the world would use G1 Prime as a stand-in for BB Movie Prime and vice versa. BB Movie Prime just happens to take inspiration from the G1 design but it still has quite a few unique aspects.
It’s another Optimus. It’ll resemble g1 no matter what. who cares whether it’s bayverse or G1. It’s a cool Optimus design getting a new toy.
But it's the Bay-style greebles that set it apart. Sure among toys it's easily lost in the flood of G1 Primes, but seeing the original, classic Optimus on screen in "real life" was novel and cool in ways worth appreciating, especially since we went ten years without that visual of the character on screen.
I know the BB Movie homaged the G1 aesthetics, but we already get the G1 designs in Takara's Masterpiece line. The MPM line has always been geared towards the Bayverse designs. There are still 4 other Bayverse movies with a plethora of characters who deserve their own MPMs, instead of another Optimus and Bumblebot who already have MPMs. If Optimus and the bug are this year's MPMs, as disappointing as that would be, at least I'll be saving money. Which is fine, with the upcoming pricey V2 Seekers. Personally, SG Optimus will be the last Optimus I buy and MP45 Bee is the very last Bee for my collection. As expensive as these figures have become, I've become much more picky on which characters I buy.
Pretty exciting to hear. Hopefully the truck is accurate and the robot looks accurate. Gives me hope they’ll move onto more BB characters in the MPM line.
While i'm excited for this...i don't see how they can make any other BB characters (other than blitzwing and bumblebee v2 in the future), shatter and dropkick are almost impossible to have decent representations in plastic. I know toyworld it's doing both, but shatter as of now has weird proportions and it's probably going to be a mess regarding transformation (she'll be also out of scale with this MPM). The cybertronian characters....they exist?, they weren't designed to transform (the irony), but having another MP line full of seekers would be truly boring. I hope the next movie includes Megatron somehow and the MPM releases of 2022 are Blackout and him.
