I understand why it's that high with the fact the parts are hand painted, and the amount of hours that went into the kit. However I just can't justify the price, especially since this kit doesn't fix the biggest issue with the figure, the rear end of the truck mode.

If the kit came with brand new legs to make it accurate to ROTB and fixed the rear end of the truck I would've considered buying this. I respect Neolab but I have to pass on this one.

Unpopular opinion: SS38 alt mode > MPM-12 alt mode
    FB_IMG_1686934482666.jpg
reduced-image_18006_8_1614363713.jpeg In my personal opinion an MP should always be better than the Generations version in every way except maybe playability. The MPM alt mode proportions are cooky, weapon storage is silly and there are major gaps in the back. SS38 has a gap in the back also but that can be easily filled in by the rifle and its many times cheaper so a gap is less egregious in my personal opinion on a cheaper figure.

The MPM also has odd hands that can not properly hold up the rifle. There are far too many downfalls for a high end collector focused MPM. I am aware of the upgrade kits however if a figure needs an upgrade kit to be decent or good, i don't buy it. I hope the ROTB alleviates all of these issues.

That's not unpopular at all though.
Ss38 has perhaps the best truck we've gotten for figures in recent time, and the biggest flaw about Mpm12 is that prioritizes solely the bot over the alt mode and thus the truck is severely affected.

Yeah that’s not an unpopular opinion at all. MPM12 (expectedly) has a much better robot mode than SS38, but that’s because SS38 made sacrifices to the robot for the sake of a better truck mode.

I feel like not only SS38 but other toys like GT-03 showed that a pretty close "realistic" truck back is possible on a Optimus with a flat nose truck alt-mode (both coming out not to far apart from each other too), it's just that MPM-12 seemingly got not as much budget compared to many others in the line cause the bot mode isn't exactly without flaws either. Especially for a relatively simple design compared to the Bay designs.

My favorite unpopular opinion is half of the unpopular opinions are actually popular opinions.

having all the mpm releases, my thought is that this line gets us 85% there but always shafts us with the remaining 15% on trivial details that could’ve been easily addressed. a simple hinge to fold those cat ears would’ve done wonders

GT was my favorite Prime for a while, but the longer you look at him, the proportions started to look off.

I actually got the takara one recently. Decent toy, truck mode is overhated but the arms are a pain getting in position. Takara one has clear windows and the sun visors are cast in red rather than painted but other than that I believe he's identical.
