The transformation could have been more complex to hide the "backpack" a bit more in robot mode.

I am not against simple transformations but if it is simple and the end result is not satisfactory then I don't have problems with a more complex one.

I think the idea was to be more faithful to the movie transformation, where his wings literally just fold into his back

People thought MP36 Megatron and MP39 Sunstreaker were too complex and complained about it endlessly. So now the opposite happens, a more simple transformation and many people aren’t happy.

Whoever decides to get him, please enjoy. He definitely looks solid in my book.

I don't mind if it's faithful to the cheating movie animation, I care about the final modes. It's just so close to being almost completely CGI accurate, I really really like it but it's almost MP44 backpack and the feet are literally two halves of plastic, I bet someone could find a very simple solution to accomodate kibble somewhere else.

There's always something to complain about.

My complaint is I don't have the figure yet. He looks incredible!

I actually like the transformation and the end result. It just strikes me as a bigger, more complex Studio Series figure though. All that soft plastic just seems... off on a Masterpiece.

They compacted the wings mostly into the legs, so if HasTak had done that with mpm 8, it could have had a much more compact backpack, but I'm thinking they were going for a transformation that adhered more closely to the movie

Not the wings, but the jet tail or part of it could have been stored in the legs.

The CGI of Megatron has some flat panels on his back anyway (which I believe are the actual wings), so it's ok for the wings to be folded on his back.

It looks beautiful but I'll wait til people actually have him in hand. UT is horrendous when it comes to fluid joints and worse when it comes to foot articulation.

I'm fine with the backpack; even if it is a little bulky it could be worse. At the same time, though, if they'd found a way to either split the tail and hide each half on his legs, or leave it hanging from his waist like the old leader figure (albeit that wouldn't be as accurate to his CGI) I certainly wouldn't complain either.

It also feels like there's a lot of room to make his legs in particular better; while they aren't exactly bad in jet mode, they are very obviously just his legs folded up underneath, when IIRC the jet did have kind of a sleeker back section than that. Idunno. With this kind of design it's hard to pick out specific details worth hanging on to and make shift around in a properly dynamic manner, as opposed to those with some proper vehicle kibble to work with. I may be a bit disappointed with the flat panel chest and shell-half lower legs, but in this case at least, I can't honestly claim I'd know how to make it any better.

I’m sure they were just using unique toys tlk megs as a comparison saying a jets wings can be stored away without kibble.
