Rodimus Prime remains one of the most expensive, and most disappointing, single Transformers I've ever bought. I transformed him only once or twice. He's so unforgiving that every ratcheted joint has to be in exactly the right position for the car mode to fit together. The truck shell covers most of the car mode, so it essentially fails to be a transforming Rodimus Prime toy. And one day I discovered his left arm sitting on the shelf next to him, broken at the shoulder. Now he stands there with his arm glued into a static position, looking pretty. He makes a pretty statue but he's a terrible toy.

 

So.......you still like it then?! J/k

They sell replacement shoulder parts on eBay, shame you glued it static.
Same thing happened to my Hasbro version.
If the price is right, I plan on getting it knowing full well of this figure’s faults.

 

Buy the upgrade/replacement parts and you'll be happy. MP-09B's knees disintegrated out of the package but now he has better diecast replacements. My reg MP-09 has new shoulders and he's fine as well.

Oh and make sure you get a JIS screwdriver, too.

My point was that just because it is listed at "taobao" does't mean it's official.

 

It's being sold by almost every seller that carries official toys. Chances are these seller did receive an official notice.

 

The best indicator of an official pre-order from China from a non-Chinese website is Robotkingdom... They are super wholesellers in the toy business. No actual store though...

The way things are it may even be a Hasbro China release because none of the HK retailers are listing him... =)

i'm sure this has been answered constantly but what is it with this mold that the knees and arms just fuckin fall apart? weak plastic or?

 

Not sure about MP-09B since I don't own it, but on the 2 MP-09s I have, the knee ratchet was incredibly stiff out of the box (even though they were used), to the point where I could imagine them easily snapping the plastic knee joints (which are actually pretty well designed) under normal but frequent use. Opened up the legs right away and grinded down the ratchet "tooth" that interlocks with the plastic knee joint just enough to still have good resistance for posing, but so it also moves freely enough that it won't stress the joint out and eventually snap it. The legs articulate perfectly now.

 

This has gone up fro preorder at tfdirect (Deposit only) MP-09 Masterpiece Rodimus Prime 3C reissue says it’s due at the 4th quarter of this year

 

What do they mean by 3C? It appears to be an official Takara reissue.
I wonder when or if it will be up for preorder on Japanese retailers.

 

Third re-release

 

3C refers to a Chinese product quality certification scheme. This plus the whole way this has gone down from rumour till now, where it was reported and what retailers have listed it, strongly suggest it's a China only release. Don't expect to see it at Japanese retailers unless Takara themselves announce something.

 

What are the levels of the quality certification? Does 3C mean the highest quality?
