The size of that rectangle is partly defined by transformation engineering, though. It needs to be of a size that will open cleanly, secure solidly, and not leave an obvious crack when closed. The first two points may or may not care if the rectangle is bigger, but I'm pretty sure the gap woul dbe harder to hide, the larger the rectangle was.

Oh I know it's absolutely intentional people with OCD aside, it's that way on the real life 'Wheeljack' ;)

As for the roof square, Yeah I think they took liberties there, it should be larger.

Yeah true, guess it was just surprising to learn that the chest isn't accurate (and could've been improved by being accurate too).

Of course, they could have engineered that opening differently... it's unusual to have an asymmetrical double hinge like that, why not just one side, or the front for example.

My WJ finally made it to my city, hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow. It was shipped on September 24th, so it's been quite the journey (but still less than two weeks, so hardly a huge deal). :D

I lucked out with a flawless copy of WJ. Definitely would have liked the hip pins and bellybutton to be covered but man what a FUN transformation and absolutely gorgeous alt mode.

I would rank MP WJ a bit above MP Sideswipe but I still think that MP Prowl is the best MP to date. Prowl is not my favorite character nor alt mode, he's just virtually perfect imo.

Thanks for the effort - it's not that he doesn't need it, it's just hard to swallow another $10-15 after shipping on top of Masterpiece prices. I used a square of off-white paper atop a piece of tacky stuff to cover it - beneath the tinted windshield it's hardly visible now.

They should do a Feral Rex-type program and package something like this in with Bee.

Yeah, IMHO it does. The softer plastic is much harder to get crisp casting lines out of. Plus the in hand feel isn't as nice.

Agreed. His thighs seem almost like a KO.

While the thigh plastic doesn't really 'bother' me, I do agree that it seems like an inferior kind of plastic than the rest of the toy, almost 'waxy'. On mine the thigh surface is covered with scuffs and scratches and up close it looks really shabby, almost like a black crayon that has been handled a lot.

Again, it doesn't bother me because I don't spend much time inspecting his thighs that closely, but I can definitley see where it some would consider a deterring factor on an otherwise superbly excellent figure.

Ok, yeah, I see what you guys are saying now. No full paint coat and the plastic in his hips and thighs no doubt point to cost cutting. I'd have gladly paid more to avoid that.

Sounds like nylon plastic. It's not cheap, it's just not pretty. It's stronger and less brittle than the ABS that most of the toy is made out of. Nylon's an engineering plastic, made to hold up to high stress uses. I've seen a number of TFs use the stuff. I think Generations Springer's hips and knees are made of it, too.

So I ordered a second off of eBay on Saturday.

Got my shipping notice today and realized that instead of using my PayPal address that everyone under the sun has been using for the past couple of years, they used my eBay address which is about 15 years old.

ARGHHHHH - I was so freaking ticked when I saw that. Not sure what I can do besides contact the seller in hopes that he hasn't shipped yet (as opposed to just creating the ticket) and putting a mail forward at USPS.

I literally yelled when I saw the email. So pissed off.

Oh, and of course he hasn't gotten back to me - though yeah, it's late in Hong Kong.

Mine finally got here, and my only gripe is the lack of paint. He has no major flaws, and the ones he has are very minor and not a bother.

His thigh plastic is the same as the plastic his shoulders are attached to. The same plastic that is used on Sideswipes torso, the backbone and inner shoulders. And it likely is Polyamide instead of ABS....if that is the case....then there's nothing cheap about it, it can be stronger than ABS, maybe that was the trade off of not using Die Cast.

OK had a little time to play with this fellow and, I have to be honest here... Not too keen on the arms... I know they're very G1, very good but they just seem lacking compared to the pose-ability of the Datsuns. That said, still love the guy, maybe the arms will grow on me. Not disappointing with the figure overall, this is still my G1 Jackie and he is fabulous!

You're right, the plastic is Polyamide. I checked the 'ingredients' on the bottom of the box and it lists ABS, PA (Polyamide) and PC (Polycarbonate, the clear plastic).
