Does HLJ require full preorder payment upfront like AE? Never tried them before.
No, HLJ will send you a payment request once they have it in stock.
Oh I like that policy better. I foresee their server crashing once preorders are up lol
Thanks for the heads up in the AE order. I usually go with HLJ, but what with it being 8 months out and the volatility of exchange rates, I'm thinking it might be best to just pay up front and get it over with.
Also, WJ looks awesome. Not quite perfect, and we still don't know the deco, but damn fine nonetheless.
C'mon HLJ, I need to leave for work in an hour and a half.
AUGUST?! 8 more months without a new Masterpiece?! Noooooo
So the final invoice from HLJ is based on the exchange rate at that time? Not the current exchange rate that you checked out with (if it was available today for example)?
Smokescreen was $11 for SAL from AE. That's pricey IMHO.
So HLJ at $7 for shipping but $5 more or save the $5 and pay $11 for shipping. Only way it makes a difference is if Bee comes out near WJ. Then you can save on shipping at HLJ like I did with Prowl and Blue.
Pretty sure they charge when it comes in. I don't think there's an option to pay up front. And yeah, it's based off of the rate at the time they charge. I had an order get charged early one day, and the shipping charged later the same day, and the rates were slightly different.
I need to win the lottery. Bad.
Likewise. I was almost going to consider only getting one, but seeing him now I just had to get 2 again from AE
Why? It wouldn't cost that much.
Well, for problem cases I have no idea, since I've never had a problem with them. One of my friends (and member here) had an issue where they didn't ship the correct quantity of a figure, he did have trouble getting hold of someone, but once he did they got it fixed and he's still ordering from them. Take that for what you will.
In everyday business, it's just the time zone difference as far as I'm concerned. They're 14 hours ahead of me, and Japan releases new toys on Saturday. That means they'll get the stock in on Thursday, and then notify me. By the time I get that notice and send a request back for shipping, they're gone for the day, so I get the email around 3am the next day. Then I pay, but that's their Friday afternoon already, and the shipment won't go out until Saturday. If it weren't for the time difference, it would be little different from BBTS or TFS.
I'm guessing PP builds that fee into their exchange rate, since the transaction details don't list it and their published exchange rate is exactly what they charged me. Their published rate works out to $44.49 and they charged me $44.50. I agree, I don't see any difference in their shipping services but I haven't used HLJ in a long long time. I hate SAL and will always go EMS, and I know that it's always going to be expensive, so I don't really sweat it.
Considering it's 1 or 2 AM in Japan, you're probably safe with leaving for work and them not putting it up.
Amazon Japan usually has their preorders up before HLJ and they don't yet. Other Japanese retailers like Red Mercury and eHOBBY don't yet either. So you're probably safe.
Anime Export tends to be a day or two before the others.
Correct. PayPal charges a 2.5% fee and rolls that into their published conversion rate. It's a bit shady to say "no fees!" The fee is there, just hidden from those who aren't paying close attention. Still, it's a better rate than my credit card, which charges a nominal fee in the conversion rate (half a percent or something) and then 3% on top of that.
Also, HLJ offers FedEx express shipping now, which in my experience has been slightly cheaper than EMS.
I PO'd mine from RK. 75 shipped. I like to order from there because u get the exclusive coins and it gets to my house hella quick.
Yep, the fee to buy a Masterpiece Transformer works out to...a dollar. The funny thing is that I could walk downstairs at my work and get a better exchange rate if I traded paper money - it's the getting it to electronic form that screws everyone. We were at 105:1 yesterday.
True, I always seem to forget about the major time differences.
I'm just antsy because now everyone is gonna jump on the cheaper preorders so I'm sure that within a couple hours they'll be sold out.
that is just PERFECT
