Unfortunately, G1 Ultra Magnus has always been composed of glorified armor cache for a Prime redeco  

 

Not always (see G1 Titanium release). Even the pre-Dreamwave mythos portrayed him as not being a white Prime with car carrier parts, despite the original toy.

I could forgive this sort of toy engineering in G1, but once Hasbro/Takara started making white Primes and dubbing them as "Ultra Magnus" in subsequent lines, I sort of lost my enthusiasm, which is a shame considering that I really like the white redeco by itself.

 

Interesting timing.

Not to mention the fact they appear to have put the trailer parts on the BACK of MP10.

It's time for another round of 'Why can't i get the exact same toy from Hasbro for less money??'

 

Not really IMHO.

It's Hasbro that has stuck with the $60 price point. Obviously they feel that that is the sweet spot for selling MPs in the US.

And since Hasbro hasn't opted to sell every version of MP that TT has produced AND since we all agree that 1) the trailer is intergral to UM and 2) that Hasbro can't sell it with the trailer for $60, it is right to assume we won't be getting a US version of UM.

 

damn that sucks, my rodimus is doing just fine, i don't think mine has any problems whatsoever, but yeah, while i love rodimus, it required a level of perfection of engineering that just couldn't be mass produced at a large scale. Its still one of my favorite figures. MP-10 hopefully will be much better, i'm grabbing it when i can

Masterpiece Ultra Magnus Concept Image?

Takara designer Shogo Hasui has posted an interesting image to his twitter account of what appears to be MP-10 Convoy Version 2.0 wearing carved up G1 Ultra Magnus trailer/armor. An very early concept of things to come? Keep in mind this isn't confirmation that MP Ultra Magnus Version 2.0 is coming, just something to be filed away as "interesting". Take a look at the image below.

Man I hope this comes to fruition. Immon the fence about MP-10, but if this turns out to be the same price, I think it'd be much more worth the money.

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but was it said that chances of this Magnus happening are more likely with good sales on MP-10?

 

All very interesting, they've obviously put a lot of thought into MP10, it's just a shame I can't get excited about it, Magnus however, do want.

 

Maybe just maybe there's some new Alternity molds in the pipeline...

 

Do you think they would have got as far as they have in that pic if it was all based on MP10 sales? The cab is done now....we all know how they love repaints so it's just the best way of converting trailer to armour now. Interesting that the pic is all done on G1 parts tho. As a side note I think this means Galvatron is a banker now. After that and the seeker remoulds is anyones guess.
