So is it me, or is anyone else here thinking..."Man...I can't believe I'm going to have to drop double the amount on MP Magnus because I'm just going to have to get the inevitable Diaclone repaint." Seriously though, I'm almost more excited for the Diaclone repaint than I am the G1 release.
What makes you think that's gonna be a repaint? Did any other of the MP figures get a diaclone repaint?
I wouldn't mind a diaclone MP Ultra Magnus but only if it was released around a time when I didn't have a load of stuff already scheduled to come in. That being said, the Masterpiece Diaclone repaint on top of my wish list is a Diaclone blue Bluestreak.
Shoot, how did I forget that? Another option is to get the MP Magnus and get the Citizen Stack diaclone repaint so you'll know you will actually get that character in the color scheme, and it's two different molds.
I though that Tigertrack wasn't based on the diaclone figure but on the actual ehobby exclusive release from back in 2000 ? Maz! You out there?
It was, but the ehobby exclusive was based on the original diaclone yellow Sideswipe. So MP Tigertrack is also a MP diaclone Sideswipe in a roundabout way.
already double dipped on magnus and will probably buy a diaclone repaint and a yellow version ..you know they will milk this mold for all its worth
Of course were still waiting for the seemingly obvious and essential Bluestreak/diaclone blue repaint. (although in fairness that mold has seen quite a few releases already, perhaps decreasing the need for them to dig up additional repaint possibilities- I can't think of any logical Magnus repaint besides the diaclone)
Yeah. Maz's articles make a great read on the subject. Look up 'Who is Tigertrack'. The photo I posted is of MP-12T with the ehobby Tigertrack. But I think the red shins and blue feet are homages to the Diaclone toy. Basically the only new thing the ehobby release brought to the original Diaclone toy was the name 'Tigertrack'.
That was more of a G1 toy accurate all silver repaint, but it's further proof that repaints are always likely with MP molds. Further proof is MP-10, which not counting the Takara vs Hasbro version differences, has had a black "Nemesis" repaint, a gold trimmed Chinese New Year repaint, and will soon have a EVA purple repaint. There is no way Takara isn't going to get out the paint brush and give Ultra Magnus a second deco, and eHobby would love to do a Diaclone deco for sure.
