MP Sideswipe vs MP Hotrod... are there any pics of this yet? Either in car mode and robot mode?

MP Rodimus is the same size as MP10 so Sideswipe will just about pass his waist. It won't work as Hot Rod.

Yeah, I think the release of Sideswipe and Red Alert pretty much guaranteed that my MP-09 will forever remain in "Rodimus Prime" mode, despite the fact that I far prefer him as Hot Rod (I like the head sculpt better). I'll just have to have a second one displayed somewhere else as Hot Rod, where its scale won't throw off the MP line.

Sometimes I wish I didn't care about scale... caring about it becomes an endlessly frustrating proposition in this hobby.

    What is the question exactly?

I have both sitting beside eachother at home and could upload a pic later if no one else does, but what exactly are you looking to understand?

MP Roddy has always been MP Rodimus IMHO, though I think the leg extension make the fig look oddly stretched.

I always keep this in mind:

    MP-9 next to MP-1 = Hot Rod
    MP-9 next to MP-10 = Rodimus Prime

Set up your display right and you can have him be whoever you want.

Me too. I always keep mine unextended.

As for a Hot Rod in better scale to MP Sideswipe, I'm going to use Alternators Rodimus.

I like Alternators Rodimus better, anyway. I just wish he had armpipes.

The G1 Hot Rod toy is almost twice as tall as Sideswipe. So he's good enough as far as I'm concerned.

Welp, that settles that. Roddy need not feel awkward any longer. :)

Besides, has anyone else compared the cockpit to Thundercracker's? Driving Hot Rod would almost be like driving a jet.

Well, the G1 toys were not well scaled. Season 3 toys are especially in a world of their own.
Yeah, if anyone has pics they can upload i'd really like to see what they look like together. Specifically Hot Rod modes next to Sideswipe.

I dunno, I think the season 3 stuff scales better than you think. Look at the interior you can see in Hot Rod. Its not too far off being Diaclone sized. The same level of scale can be seen with the MP. Hot Rod, is a MASSIVE car built around a relatively small passenger compartment.

true, but in the animated movie he was a sleek sports car much like the other G1 autobots.

I don't have any pictures of the vehicle modes (mostly because I'm afraid of breaking Hot Rod) but here is a picture of them in Bot mode:

I just consider MP-09 to be Rodimus and that he transforms into a large sporty transport vehicle that looks like a big sports car instead of the winnebego. Takara should have simply made it as Rodimus Prime and created a separate MP to be a smaller Hot Rod.

As far as which is superior? While I love the MP-09 Hot Rodimus toy, I think MP-12 Lambor is superior in many ways.
