Hi all, I got a little further on this project. Everything becides the Tamiya 1:24 Countach kit, and Lego balljoints used for the hips is scratchbuilt. Hes got plenty of articulation with pivoting and rotating shoulders, rotating bicepts, elbows with two points of articulation, balljoint fists, with articulating fingers, and thumbs, balljointed head with LED eyes, and pivoting neck/chest area, rotating waist, balljoint hips, rotating theighs, pivoting knees, pivoting feet, and pivoting rocket launcher with LED "Red ring o' death".

I finished up some of the small details, started on his jetpack, and I still plan on doing LED head lights, and tail lights, as well as a few finishing pieces, but he's almost ready for paint.

Let me know what you think.

I swear, this looks better and better with each update. Excellent work as always, Steve. Keep up the great work (looking forward to seeing more on this--as well as the final paintjob).

You get too many internet hugs from me, including this one. It's only because I love you though.

He's a little shorter than MP Starscream, but close to scale with Prime and his Simi truck mode. Its 1:24 scale.

    Thanks guys,

Oh, but your hugs are the best!

    very cool...

the tamiya countach is a great casting (as all most Japanese model kits) but it includes a curbside chassis with an area for an electric motor. Yeah the Japanese also love that idea too. many a tamiya model has been doomed to the curbside chassis... sigh

Wow! Your custom is beautiful! I can't wait to see it painted and finished!

G1 sideswipe was one of the very first Transformers I remember as a child and seeing your custom purely have the exact likeness along with bells and whistles simply brings back the childhood excitement and anticipation I had when seeing him at the playground, stores, and toy catalogs!

    Thanks for sharing this!

I don't post often... but Masterpiece is very appropriate for this so far.

nice! seems slightly short and fat though, perhaps trimming a bit off his hips would help?

Unbelievable. Just incredible. You even have the jet pack integrated there. I can't believe this was made by human hands...

OMFG! Turboedguy is a frakkin' TERMINATOR!!! Run for your lives!!!

EDIT: Okay, in the interests of actually having something to complain about, er... I mean constructive criticism, I'm not sold on his facial proportions. His face seems a little long for the relative shortness of his helmet. Of course we know there's no actual "head" under that helmet, but it does look a little odd. I think a smaller face would be nice.
