It is the magic of the carpet. Believe. Worship it.
Hahah! Sixo's Magic Carpet ride.
Not sure if it's something the carpet does to Sixo's camera settings/sensors or if he's doing some very nice color correction/filters, but everything he shoots has this wonderful sheen to it that the toy doesn't necessarily have. It is kind of magical.
I got her this week and now I see why there's so much confusion. She got to at least have some sort of semi gloss coating over plastic- it's not just plastic- but it doesn't really seem like paint either. It's unusual what ever it is. It might be paint.
What ever it is, it's pretty nice. If it was straight plastic, it would be really, really nice straight plastic. But there is something on there.
I know what you mean re: paint/not paint. I've looked all over Tracks for the tell tale signs of paint imperfections, and it looks more like some kind of glossy coating, rather than a metallic paint - it's pretty much everywhere on him, with the exception of a few joints.
So hard to know for sure!
Got mine yesterday. She feels more solid than Tracks. Also, her lower legs have very little play between ratchets, so she's more stable. She is awesome. I'm glad I have this mold another chance.
Here's hoping for a 3rd party face mask.
My Road Rage arrived today but I'm at work. That was uber fast AE.
She's not dull at all, that's the thing - she has a shiny coat of paint. Like, really shiny. Stick her in natural light and she's beautiful.
Thanks! I do use a filter on the lens, and it's a pretty nice lens too, but it's mostly just down to the light, I think.
Anyways, here's some more of this gorgeous (and shiny!) figure.
Awesome pics, guys. She looks great.
Could someone post a pic of her next to Alternators Tracks?
Simply stunning! I'm looking forward to getting mine. She does look like a nice accompaniment for Tracks heheh.
Nice one Yeled! I love the surface you've chosen to snap them on as well.
^ Thanks. It's just my kitchen table. It's wood but from that angle you can't really see the grain.
Take a few more pics and just wait for people to start telling you the unspeakable things they would like to do to your table.
I don't think boudoir photos of my wife on your carpet was that unreasonable of a request.
She's not dull, but she IS unpainted, aside from the roof and the flame decal. I was a little disappointed about that when I unboxed her, but it's a very high quality plastic finish and she looks fine next to the other car guys 99% of the time. It's really only noticable if I put her right next to sideswipe. Then she's demonstrably less premium-looking.
I am really doubtful that your photos are representative of what she looks like. The lens filter you are using - either that or photoshop afterwards - make her look completely different from every other photo of her I have seen.
I am not saying she is dull, but she isn't metallic cherry red which your photos make her out to be.
I do have to say, having Roadrage in hand she feels really good and looks fantastic. She's certainly red painted along the car surface (and her butt; I noticed that was particularly glossy). Quality I don't have the issues I had with Tracks either. The chest stays pegged in and the arms don't come off on their own.
It's like when KFC does a V2 redeco.
Gotta bust out that Botcon Tracks sometime.
I'm not seeing metallic cherry red in any of Sixo's photos. However, here's no fancy background, no fancy camera, no post-editing (besides resizing). Just my S6 and a lamp:
She's shiny, and a deeper red than most pictures appear. It's really all about lighting and a good angle. You can even see my cutting mat reflected in her paint. Which by the way.....
...again, totally painted. I've painted enough red in my life to recognize, visually, and textually, a very thin layer of red paint over red plastic. It's absolutely a different type of paint used on the previous MPs, but like MP-10, and Tracks, its definitely a very thin layer of paint. Flip up the hood, it's a different color and texture under there, which even shows up in photos:
Now, it is definitely a different process than previous MP Carbots, something which makes me very curious.
She has no metallic chip paint like Tracks does. She's not a bad looking piece.
Anyone else slightly bothered by the fact that the hood opens the wrong way? Dont think I've ever seen a corvette that opened from the front. Unless it was from Cybertron.
