Yeah, this is me too. The Scramble City guys would take up far much shelving real estate.

Another way of describing it would be any character that was in the movie. But, that would exclude Seaspray and the rest of the S2 minibots, and those guys are great fun. Skyfire and Omega Supreme I can live without.

I also felt the same about Red Alert. But then I got MP14+ in a sale. Now I've got him, I'm glad I did.

 

My original goal was something similar to that.

I wanted all the bots who were alive in 2005, before the attack on Autobot city. Which actually excluded Galvatron.

The problem is that extended to all the Diaclones who had been retconned as G1 new characters. And then it just got out of hand  

 

It's when you notice Skywarp wrapped around Red Alert's leg that the picture gets even worse.

 

My explanation for this (...when MP Galvatron is announced in 2018) is that Galvatron has travelled back in time again in Target2006/TimeWars style - which explains where Skids has gone (he's stuck in the time void thing)

 

I would've explained it the same way by picking up the toy-coloured repaint Galvatron II  

 

So far I have only collected Grimlock, Tracks, Rodimus, Sideswipe+, Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage and Laserbeak. The cassettes and Grimlock are part of my Classics collection. MP Hot Rod is my stand-in Rodimus Prime until one day maybe there is a nice stand-alone Voyager figure without clip-on wheels, enough paint apps and no stickers. I would like to replace him someday, as I would like to have my carbots as a trio in a separate display case I would assemble then, once Hot Rod is freed up. The other carbots are currently chilling with Mega Drive Megatron.

 

Orignally just a few I liked, but believe it or not it was my Mrs encouraging me that turned me into an all G1 toon characters collector. Then I fell down the slippery slope of Diaclone repaints. Then the new MPMs. Doh.

 

Im the kind that has four with no plans to buy more especially with how bad some of the recent ones look.

An airazor is probably the only one I'd be interested in

 

Completionist, sans Beast Wars. Not having an Exhaust coin drives me nuts, too.

Didn't name it as such, but consider this one January's one  

 

MP is too rich for my blood but if I won the lottery, I'd buy them all (or at least one per mold). As it is all I have is MP01 Convoy. Almost bought a bumblebee last year but saved the money for more TR stuff. It it came with the alternate toy based face, i probably would have gone for it, but it was at TRU, not whichever exclusive had the face.

 

To make it easier on my wallet, I decided to collect only G1 characters from the original mini-series (first thee episodes). I've been supplementing with 3P figures but I had to stop that too. Only official going forward. Still need to get MP-36, just waiting on the re-release coming pretty soon. Other than that, I still don't have MP-15 because I was going to go for the Ocular Max Ravage but never did.

 

Currently G1 show cast, and all Autobot car variants and Diaclone/pre-TF variant repaints.

I have recently sold MPs where I felt there was a better 3P equivalent, and thus far that has only been Starscream. Star Saber and MP-10B have left my collection also.

G1 Autobot Shattered Glass / Diaclone deco figures currently and probably planning on expanding on the G1 Decepticons when I am nearly/done.

 

Masterpiece: G1 animation (Sunbow and Japanese), plus Diaclone cars.

 

I went for option five. Im predominantly a G1 and Beast Wars/Machines fan and am driven to collect all my favourite characters from those lines. Those figures are therefore required to have a character, so I do skip a fair few G1 toys that don't quite cut it for me character-wise. I also tend to avoid repaints/remoulds due to limited space, unless it's a case where where I have equal love for both characters depicted. Added to that some of G1 releases of late have leaned too towards a 'toon accuracy for my liking. I'm not a huge fan of the cartoon overall, preferring the stories and some of the artwork form the Marvel comics in many places, although I have a huge soft spot for the '86 movie. In those cases where the official MP hasn't matched up IMO I've found myself passing of seeking out 3P alternatives that better represent my mind eye image of the character.

Basically I'm a picky fella.

 

Seeing as how Geewunny the line is, I only collect characters whose G1 iteration is still one of their better ones. You won't see a slavish season 1 cast on my shelf, if only because so many of them look dated, too simple, or too goofy. However, I did get Grimlock just because it's so hard to find Dinobots that aren't based on how we saw Dinosaurs last century.
