Fortunately, there are two potentially better MP Grimlocks coming from 3rd party companies.

    I mean, really... f tru-grimlock.

Yeah - I did not purchase him to keep, that's for sure. He'll be kept sealed/be a back-up for awhile. I plan to wait until he "sells out" again, and eBay it - the closer it gets me to the Takara version the better.

(And THAT's only to hold me over until a properly scaled MP Grimlock comes from FansToys)

Now if only Streak, Smokescreen, G2 Sideswipe and Acid Storm would be hard to find ... Hell, wish YOTH Prime sold better so I could eBay him too. Will play the waiting game I guess - there will be those one day who missed out and will pay higher dollar :)

Is selling TFs for a mark up really that profitable? Seems like the time wasted tracking down these figures and then hoping they increase in price a year or more down the line could be better spent...

They're just silhouettes for now. And he'll be the last one made if he gets made since TT/Hasblow has their own for now. He'll be properly scaled and I assure you - much better than TT's - take a look at Scoria in the 3rd party thread.

FansToys and GiGapower making dinos :)  and there's actually die-cast omg

Picture included - showing Scoria (aka not-Slag) and the little platforms for Grimlock so he's scaled with Scoria. Only comes with first wave.

Loooool. Another one of these guys.

Have fun with your Floppy terrible QC GREENlock. Have fun with your blown-out knees Rodimus. Have fun with your Soundwave index fingers. Have fun with your price-gouged marked up MPs from terrible Hasbro. You guys are worse than "gee-wunners" and I count myself amongst those people - you sound like a console-system fanboy not buying Sony products because M$ is teh winrar omgkinnect.

Pah-leeeeeeeese. You'd think you were sleeping with the higher-up men from Tak/hasblow. ....

    .....

    Are you?

I never really had to track down nor spent any extra hard earned time collecting and keeping anything. I didn't plan on selling my spares, but I probably will end up doing it at some point - may as well attempt to make bank doing so.

3rd party looks amateurish, blocky, and silly. but to each their own.

I'm totally imaging you right now, plugging your ears and covering your eyes, going "nah-nah-nah-naaaah I can't heeeear yooooou!" Whilst completely ignoring the image I posted above.

What about not-Slag looks amateurish? How about that it's a shit-ton better quality than TT's work on Grimlock?

I suppose you cover your eyes every time a picture of Not-Shockwave (quakewave) is posted as well? That is pretty much the holy grail of a quality Masterpiece styled transformer.

I mean, shit - we all have our opinions - you're more certainly entitled to yours; but come on now. That is fanboyism to the max. I don't bend over backwards FOR ANYBODY or any COMPANY. If I spend 300 bucks on something and it ends up being shit - I call that shit out. I'm not a fanboy to any one company and I am not a defender of purchases.

I own both 3p figs (not many, but a couple now) and Mp figs (only one, but have two more shipping to me right now). My 3p stuff is nice, especially my Trash-Talk and Cogwheel from MakeToys. Seriously, they are some of the best figures I own, but i'm less impressed with my iGear Apex and Geminus. They are good, don't get me wrong, they just seem a bit floppy for what I was expecting. The only MP I have right now is Prowl, and he is easily the crown jewel in my meager collection.

The purpose of this post was to say that I ordered my MP Grimlock at roughly 7 a.m. Central yesterday morning, and was rewarded with a "Shipped" email this morning. SOOOOOO happy I just plunked down my cash right there and then. Grimlock is a favorite character of mine, but there was NO WAY I would spend 150+ to get him since he'd been "sold out" for quite some time. It may not be the flawless "perfection" that the Takara version is, but, quite frankly, I could really freaking care less. I'm finally able to find an affordable way to add this fantastic character to my collection.

In closing, I'd like to say F*&K scalpers! You bastards are the ones that turn these release events in to nightmares for real fans trying to bolster collections. I hope none of your 6 Grimlocks sell, and you're stuck with them.

MP Grimlock is my favorite MP figure despite his many faults.

That being said, I'll be buying the FT version of him so fast my keyboard will catch fire.

As far as scalping goes - I believe going into a store on release day(s) and buying most of them/all of them in hopes of going back home and selling them for a premium is pretty garbage-y ...

However people who buy items that are/were decently readily available and happened to pick up one or more in hopes of plausibly selling one/both down the like ... Nothing wrong with that -- you had your chance and wasted it/didn't have funds at the time/insert excuse here ... Doesn't matter.

I for one, for example, am also a gamer - I love NISA releases and will almost always buy the limited edition versions of their games - because almost ALWAYS they sell for much higher once released on eBay. So I'll usually sell the LE and pick up a normal copy of just sell it off and forget about it.

I agree, grabbing one for a friend, or to keep boxed, and another to display is a different situation than some guy storming his local TRU to clear the shelves of just released toys, in order to profit. I have no issue at all with someone grabbing a spare, or even one to ship to a friend that doesn't have access to TRU or another retailer locally.

I just picked one up in the store (last one) and it was 79.99. Kind of a bummer, but I don't mind. I foolishly sold mine off back before it was even expensive when I was trying to be anal about which lines I collected. I'm glad I snagged one now, because it looks like this guy is already sold out. I checked three TRU's before I saw the only one I was able to get. Good luck hunting.

Man, it's been a while since I've seen the word "Hasblow" used unironically.

By the way, it looks like it's been taken down or sold out already; the links don't work.

Yeah I can't seem to find it either. I had a coupon to use for getting a rewards card and it doesn't seem my TRU is getting him just yet. The coupon doesn't expire and it's 20% off any purchase... so I'll try to be patient.

I'm surprised at the amount of demand there still is for this guy after all the reissues.
