Having seen it in person. I would deal with the lower price and less paint apps to get it myself. It is beyond awesome IMO
Botcon or Comicon's the best bet. Toy Fair won't show it, I'd imagine. I'm trying to think back and it's not working, but...have we ever had a Toy Fair show a US Masterpiece? I don't think so. If that's the case, they won't break tradition with Grimmy. Plus as it was mentioned, they talked about a Masterpiece in the US this fall, so Grimmy would be coming out before next year's Toy Fair.
I bet we don't see anything about it until well after the ROTF stuff fades. It seems that Hasbro is 100% totally focused on the movie toys, which probably won't change for quite awhile.
Hopefully teeth and claws won't be too rounded. I wouldn't mind switching the gold chrome for toon accurate yellow though. Maybe they can add his comic crown to the accessories as well. Also, When is the next botcon?
I think Grimlock will eventually see a Hasbro release, and hopefully some more concrete info will come out at Botcon. I would go so far as to suggest Hasbro had some influence in that particular MP's creation, based on: * Grimlock is more popular in the west than in Japan supposedly, so Takara would probably rather do an MP of someone else if Japan was the only market. * The MP Grimlock toy is simpler, more sturdy, and more gimmick-laden than MP Starscream or Megatron. Size and metal content aside, it's a lot like MP Optimus Prime in that sense - the only MP toy released by Hasbro in a non-exclusive capacity. * I want it here.
That'd be fine with me! I want Skywarp and Thundercracker, but online they always seem too expensive to justify paying that price for repaints >_>
That doesn't explain how Masterpiece Starscream was a store exclusive during the first movie run right around Christmas time. Also, see Starscream. Paint apps shouldn't be a problem.
