Headmasters is super easy to connect with Seasons 1-3. Barely an inconvenience.

Masterforce and Victory is where things start to take the off ramp.

Start with Headmasters, as it even uses the plots from abandoned Sunbow scripts early on. Once you warm up to those, move on to the others.

 

As I said, my renaming is for my collection only.

To me, the G1 "Railbots" are:
Shouki is Railspike
Getsuei is Midnight Express
Yukikaze is Frostbite
Suiken is Waterlog
Seizan is Rapid Run
Kaen is Steamhammer

and they combine to from Conductor (Raiden).

And while I'm at it, the combiner tapes are:

Treble (Zaur)
Bass (Dile)

Who combine to make Volume (Legout).

and

Noise (Noizu)
Dial (Graphy)

Who combine to make Decibel.

Yup. These pics have me really excited over the release. The photos just pop.

 

Him and the IDW Rodimus have become an absolute must even more than before since the in-hand photos dropped.

 

I've gone through a bit of headmasters, but the VA is really bad and I can't really do subtitles (physical limitations). As for Masterforce and Victory, again I love what I see with my eyes, but it's not really my thing, in terms of story telling. I do find elements very interesting, I think a cybertronian adopting a human child is interesting for example.

 

Considering how Headmasters turned out, maybe its for the best that the Sunbow series ended when it did...

 

Headmasters was magical. You can see the production quality drop steadily with each season of Sunbow G1. Headmasters was that hilarious point where the quality starts to improve again because that's what happens when you get random illiterate British people off of the street to read a script in a recording studio.

 

That is FANTASTIC  

For now, I'm going to keep enjoying JG1 via Fanatic Films and it's awesomeness.

 

I've only watched Headmasters subbed (unfortunately), so I have yet to fully comprehend the wonders of its dub.

 

It's a wild ride  

 

I rather think The Rebirth is worse than The Headmasters in that it played everything a bit safe, despite the Decepticons attempting brief mass genocide on the Autobots.

The Headmasters didn't just press the shiny red "do not press" button. It slammed its fist on it again and again. And did to the 1986 cast what the 1986 movie did to the 1984 cast.

Convoy? Dead again. Cybertron? Blown up midway though. Rodimus and Blurr? MIA midway through, never to be seen again. Ultra Magnus? Dead. Galvatron? Dead. Nebulons? Nah, we're introducing Cybertronian colonies instead.

 

Headmasters is kind of hilarious in how shamelessly cynical and corporately mandated it is.

Ultra Magnus' death is laughable.
"Look how weak this old toy is, kids! Better buy our new shit if you wanna stand a chance."

 

Truck mode looks like unfinished.

 

Not even an extreme example. The entire show is dubbed like that.

 

I love the normal doors  

With that said, the animation is way better than S3.

 

I wonder how big the mini HiQ/Ginrai/Spike figure is. It would be nice if it's the same size as the human figures that come with MP44/MP10, but not the end of the world if its not.

 

Have we gotten a size for Super Ginrai yet? I know approximately 1/3 taller than the G-1 model.
